If you've tried Livewires...

Talk to me. I just recently installed a set of Mastertone vHO humbuckers I got awhile ago, and they rock. As does the EMG SA SA 89 set I've got in my other test guitar. Anyway, comparing the humbucker mode of the 89 to the vHO bridge has made me realize I just plain like active pickups.

So... I think I need to try Duncan actives, but I haven't heard anything about them at all. It's like they don't exist.

That's where you come in. If you've tried any Livewires, tell me what you think. If you also have experience with EMG's, compare the singles to SA's and the hums to 85's.

Err... Please. And thank you.

check out the thread titled " EMG vs. LiveWires " for all you'll need to about them. It's currently on page 5.

Re: If you've tried Livewires...

I've got a set in my Jackson. I've never personally tried EMGs so I can't give you a good comparison. The Classic in the neck is a beautiful, warm sounding pickup that I could use in almost any situation. The Metal bridge is VERY hot - don't expect to be able to use it for cleans. It's a little compressed sounding, but if that's what you're going for, it's a good thing.

Arg. Sounds worth a try. It seems I should have just done some research before I asked, though. Thanks for helping anyway.

I've got a Boogie Quad that really likes to be pushed over the edge, so that sounds pretty useable. The Duncan sound samples made me think they were pretty flat and silky with no midrange character, which is why I've never really thought very hard about giving 'em a shot.
