Im using a POD 2.0 now for computer recording and am considering a XT, A local store has one for 200. Which is about normal for used. Anyone know how to tell what "model packs" have been installed? It would be cool to fire it up and find some packs in it. Any thoughts yay or nay are appreciatted Thanks

No info on the model packs but I have an XT. I would say don't expect the presets to blow you away. Actually, I think they kind of suck. But, if you are prepared to put in the time to program your own, you will very happy with it I think.

I don't know what firmware revision that unit will have and that completely changes the sounds. I am using v1.04. The latest is 2.01. I installed it last night and played with it for about an hour. I'm sure they were able to be tweaked into some killer tones but I wasn't ready to recreate the wheel just to get my old sounds back so I back rev'd back to 1.04. For 2 bills its a powerful tool.

ive heard the model packs rock...I just bought an XT and love it.

It should say what model packs (if any) on the display when you first turn it on. It will say "Line 6", then if the packs are there it will have up to 3 icons (FX Junkie, Classic, Modern, don't remember what order), then just the display for whatever channel is selected.

Sorry can not help you there.

Hmm wouldn't it just be better to not respond at all, like most of us do or are you looking to increase your post count? :newangel:

I think the main advantage of an XT is that it's able to record through the USB port in your computer, thus disabling risks in soundquality due to cheap soundcards and noise. I also prefer the raunchiness and dynamics of the high gain models which sound incredible IMO, for the price it's hard to beat. I tried the POD 2.0 two years ago when the bandcoach lend it from his guitarist and must say I prefer the newer models on the XT! :saeek:

Re: Im considering a POD XT any thoughts... good or bad?

I have no real complaints with my XT it does take some time to tinker with it to get the sounds you want but when you do take that time you'll be sure to get stuff you like. i think i may try out the new patches i'm dying to try out that diezel VH4, the engl and bogner.
