swamp ash body, wenge neck (having the wenge in my custom v and playing a friend's wenge necked bass made me want to use it for a special strat) ziricote fretboard (for the gorgeous spider webbing like look), and a spalt top (I know the old school strat purists are screaming bloody murder). Gonna order the parts from warmoth and probally make it a semi hollowbody style (a question unrelated to pickups at theend of the thread too just since i didnt want to make an independent thread for such a small question).

Anyways, Id like to get a set of s/s/s strat pickups (or maybe to be a little more unique a p90/s/s) that are versatile, perform well under low gain/clean settings for a nice, jazzy like tone but still stratty with plenty of balls and zing when i need it. but still can push it and get nice sound under disortion and do everything in between.
I was thinking of a set of antiquity texas hots but i don't know a great deal about strat pickups so the help is appreciated.

(the small unrelated to pickups question is this (and again purists will be asking for my head on a stick) can you put a floyd rose on a semi hollow guitar like this one will be (i know chris poland's semi hollowbody yamaha has one [at least im sure it's a floyd]) or would i have to use a different tremolo o no trem at all?

thanks guys.

"tell me what pus to ge"?????

The kind that does not smell too bad and feels real good!

Or the kind that is simply willing.

Doesn't have to be willing, just asleep. ;)

I have the Texas hots as well as the Surfers. Its a toss up for which I like better. They are both excellent pickups. I would recommend getting the RWRP middle pickup to cancel the hum in position 2 and 4. I really like the neck pickup of the surfers as well as the neck of the Texas Hots. The TH have a little more quack to them in positions 2 and 4, but the Surfers seem to have a little more clarity. I am going to say I like the Surfers a bit better, but I think its more that I like the neck on this guitar a little better than the guitar with the TH in it. Bottom line is I don't think you can go wrong with either set. Some people prefer adifferent" bridge pickup with these, but I have the Custom bridge with both sets and I think the Bridge pickup kills.

I have the Everything Axe set in my Squier Strat. Every time I pick up that guitar, it amazes me more.

You're gonna love the Wenge/Swamp Ash combo- and the Warmoth hollow is pretty dang cool. The only thing is it'll make the body really light, and you might end up a little neck weighted. Oh, and you'll lose some snap and sustain, but it won't matter as it'll feed back controllably at anything above normal conversation level. I could talk with some one and get nearly infinite chord sustain standing about 5 feet from my amp.

As fer pickups, with those woods and what you're looking for in sound, I'd take a long hard look at Bill Lawrence L-200s or L-280s. Maybe an L-298 in the bridge. They're noiseless and sound amazing clean and distorted if you're looking for something a bit more modern and controllable. Some sound clips can be found at their corner of the FIB.

Thank you so much i think the BL sound exactly like what i need, im prolly just gnna end up going solid body so the neck doesn't feel weighted.

I have another swamp ash/wenge (but with an ebony fretboard) guitar coming too (Crazy 8 bridge/parallel acess stack [middle], and PATB original in the neck). i wan't wait to get this strat project going once i get back to the states, hopefully i can learn how to set up and put all this stuff together withut stuffing it up :D
