I'm having another problem with my TwinTube Classic.

I had to send it in a couple months ago because of microphonic tubes. Well, now I'm getting this whooshing sound. It almost sounds like someone blowing into a mic.. I don't know what the deal is. It's very noticable, but it doesn't take over the whole sound. It's just lying there underneath everything.. swooshing away. It's loud enough to where I can't leave it on during quiet parts in a song.. Sometimes I can make it go away by turning it off and then really stomping on it to turn it back on. Also, it seems to be more prominent on the rhythm channel.

Has anybody had this problem before? Scott, if you could chime in and let me know something that'd be great. I'd hate to have to send it back in.

Thanks!

yes that happened to me the other day just how you described it. I thought it was my amp but then I flipped the twin tube off and it went away. Then I turned it back on and the wooshing went away. It hasn't done it to me since then.

Hmm..

I asked a guy I know that's pretty tube-amp savvy and he said the wooshing noise is typical of a leaky grid.. basically a bad tube.

ya, I had to send mine back and I've had it for a few weeks now. Its working but it was whooshing on me pretty good. I don't know what was wrong with it before I just wasn't getting any sound out of it and on the ticket it just said repaired. so I don't know if it was the tubes last time or not. I hope mine aren't going out but it was doing just what you described. SD took care of me last time. I love the thing so I hope I dont have send it in again.

I'm quite sure that if you called SD tech support, they will take care of it for you. I have never run across a company who so consistently goes out of their way to satisfy customer, as long as the customer has a legit complaint or problem.

Yeah, they took care of me when I had the microphonic tubes. I just hate to have to send it back. Can't stand being without it. :)

Re: I'm having another problem with my TwinTube Classic.

It may be a good idea to get a bunch of spare tubes for it. I've never opened one up, and don't know whats involved in changing them, but it seems like it'd be easier to go that route than sending it in for service.

Are you guys running another OD, comp, or dist. in front of the Twin Tube, or is it the first pedal in the chain?

GearJ,

I run mine both ways. I like htting it with a TS type pedal for boost only as well as the stock unit.

Well, the tubes are miniature and hardwired inside. I don't know how easy it use to even find tubes for it, let alone change them.

I don't run any dirt pedals before it. I will have a fuzz first in line eventually, but nothing now. Just a wah, TB box (with tuner in loop) and a phaser before the TwinTube. I've tried the pedal by itself and it still has the problem.
