I'm now officially a spectraflex convert :)

So, before a couple days ago I was using those crappy monster standard cables, that roll of highs and are noisy (i didn't know any different before), but then out of curiosity I decided to try out a Spectraflex cable. What a difference!

I feel that there's just more clarity and just overall better tone from. Granted, its not a huge difference to most people, even less to a non-guitar player, but it just feels better. I like the added brightness and clarity now. Also there's much less noise than my monsters, and the cable seems pretty much indestructable, so I doubt I'll ever need to use their lifetime warranty.

So, any of you guys like Spectraflex? Which kind do you use?

I've got Spectraflex cables that are almost as old as you are. I've always had good results with them.

Re: I'm now officially a spectraflex convert :)

I've been using Sprectraflex for many years now.

If I buy any cable, its always gonna be a Spectraflex. Problem is, the quality is so good, I haven't had to buy a new cable in over 10 years. My oldest cable must be 10+ years and has no signs of quitting anytime soon. The quality is so good, this cable looks and sounds brand new - and thats after 10+ years of heavy usage.

Blast! I don't think Spectraflex is available in the UK. (I would be happy to be corrected on this.)

OTOH, I am most definitely already officially a Spectrasonics convert. I love the sample and synthesis products of Mr. Eric Persing. :notworthy

How flexible are they?

I mean, would they work for tightly radiused pedalboard connections with soldered ends?

They're very flexible - that's part of the reason I like Spectraflex. Their braided cables have no memory - meaning that they don't retain any shape or coiled unless you want 'em to. They lay flat on the floor and don't really get bunched up or curl when moving around.

If you're looking for pedal interconnects, I'm sure they would work great for years to come. Highly recommended.

my main cable from guitar to board is a spectraflex and i like it better than every other cable (way too many to list) i've used before it. lex666 is right about them not curling and getting bunched up and that's one of the reasons i like it over other stuff. plus mine is bright orange python pattern, and what's not to like about that? hahaha

That's another thing to love, they come in all sorts of different colours! Mine's red and black and looks kinda like a coral snake, which is totally awesome! :headbang:

Re: I'm now officially a spectraflex convert :)

My fav thing is that I can order 2 right angles on a cable.

Very few manfacturers make cables with 2 right angles.

The silent right angle works great. I can unplug and re-plug with minimal noise.

My whole board is wired with Spectraflex "bald" cable. Between the size of the connectors and diameter of the cable, its not as flexible or 'space saving' as say George L's but IMO, they're WAY more reliable and I didn't have any problems getting pedals to be where I wanted. If they made 1.5 foot cables that'd be rad... but I got it done with 6" and 12" plucked off the wall at my local dealer.

Many years ago I tried a handful of different cables and the Spectraflex sounded 'best' to me compared to Monsters and whatever other "decent" cables the store had in stock. Nice sound, very open and a great balance of price vs. sound.

That original green braided cable is dead though. After many years of faithful service a bass player stepped on it and killed the cable and an amps input jack in one shot. I put it back together but its been a little flaky ever since... need to fix it again someday!

Here's my board before I cleaned up & ziptied the wiring... just to give you an idea of how they layout on a board.
