I highly doubt that Axl makes his guitar players use Les Paul in order to be in Guns. Apart from the fact that they all do, I'd assume that the les paul "image" would be associated with slash for him, so he'd want nothing to do with it.

And since we r on the topic of copy cats. For the whole early part of his career, Eddie (VH) wanted nothing better than to be a clone of Clapton. Many players try to mimic their idols an ultimately end up working their own style into it, if be playing style or stage dress or whatever. I have no problem with mimicking your idols because everyone does it. But that shouldn't be your whole image, u do need to come up with your own style as a branch off of imitation
