Re: i'm sooooo angry
I have used NOMADS
YOU NEED TO TALK TO YOUR MOM. I think she wants you to learn a lesson in decision making and sticking by choices etc etc
So appeal to her this way - tell her, I wasn't aware of my options and not nearly as aware of how music works as a business. I am part of a Forum where I did some research and my peers, some more knowledgeable than me alerted me to a couple of MAJOR factors.
1) Brand name - Marshall, ESP the JCM800 is an international known NAME AND MODEL, which, should I get hired in any professional capacity, show that I use top notch gear. (MESA is great too, I know, but NOT the Nomad).
2) Professional Situations - Many producers and live acts will prefer the sound, balance, and the way a 2210 sits in the mix. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. Many producers will ask you to bring something else OR rent you something else. Marshall IS the sound of ROCK, like it or not. They record AMAZINGLY.
Whether or not you are paid, you never know what happens. Always act as IF!
3) Value. I am sure your mom would love to see you use your money wisely. It is far more likely the Nomad will continue to diminish in value given the saturation (ironic word) or tube amps on the market. JCM800s from the 80s are classics, and actually continue to go up in value. I am sure she is aware of the collectible and vintage marketplaces.
4) Sound. As far as sound, the Nomad is very midrange-y, and Ch 3 is over saturated, many agree. The sound is too thick and eats up most mixes, even live. While the clean sound is lauded by many, I think people on this forum will sacrifice versatility for great tone.
I am sure you chose the Nomad for many reasons, versatility being one of the main ones. That being said, you will find the 2210 to not only be a great piece and great investment, but the beginning of a great rock n roll journey.
