I just went to Guitar Center on my lunch break and I walked out w/a Detonator pup. I plan on using this for the neck position along w/a screamin' demon for the bridge in my Epiphone korina Explorer. Is this going to be an okay considering the Detonator is designed for the bridge? I just needed something cheap that matches the other pickup, because it looks kind of weird having a gold pickup and a black open pickup.

Well...that is more or less an Invader and it will be kinda hot for a neck bucker IMO...and there is a good chance that it will overpower the Demon. If it is no good maybe you could take it back and get an Duncan Desighned HB-101...this is close to a 59, and let me tell you a 59 and a Demon is a cool set up!

An Invader will sound NOTHING like the Demon...just do it and see what happens...for the record you could just get a gold cover for the Demon if it's that big of a deal, or you could just leave it...Jimmy Page does!

The Detonator is gonna be WAY louder than the Demon. However, you may wanna use the Detonator in a dedicated to metal axe. It sounds similar to the Invader, but it really has its own sound.

I guess my main question then is what should I do with the Demon? I bought the Detonator because it was cheap. My original plan was to put the Demon in the bridge and find some POS pup to throw in the neck since I never go there anyway. The more I've read about the Detonator, the more I think I'll like it. Should I take back the Detonator and use the Demon, or use both and put the Demon in the neck (since it won't really be used). Either way I'm gonna need something to put in the neck. Like I said I don't want one gold pup and one open black pup. Or should I say to hell with looking funny and try out both pups for like 2 weeks each?

The detanator will most likely sound like straight A$$ in the neck position if it is anything at all like the invader. The detanator will sound good in the bridge and the demon should be OK in the neck.

The Demon just seems like kind of an expensive pup to sit in the neck slot, basically unused.
Say to hell with looking funny, and give them each a go in the bridge. Maybe you'll start a new trend, and six months from now, everybody on here will have gold covers on their neck pups :laugh2:

Well I took the Detonator back to GC. After reading reviews I decided to go with the real thing and got an Invader. Decided to keep the Screamin' Demon on the Junior. After comparing the two pups I didn't realize how different they really are. So far so good, and to be honest the 1 black/1 gold doesn't look too bad:saeek:
