In the design stage.

Re: In the design stage.

How about a shooting star? I can add some light to it and even make it flash. It will be routed out threw the body. Oh, Oh maybe just half way threw with some glow in the dark paint as a backing. So when the light flashes out it glows in the dark.

What you think?

Oh I am thinking through the body if it is totally up to me....but I bow to your superior knowledge and wisdom. I love the star, :cool3: .

Re: In the design stage.

If it's called the Hoff, it needs to be black and have a led light assembly like KITT.
If this is the Hoff. I'm too busy to catch up, sorry if I'm a complete 'tard..

Re: In the design stage.

Late commer :(

I like the latest design, but with the cutouts (better than the previous design that looked like a world of pain ready to be inflicted and designs before that just had something that was noth right but I can't put my finger on)
Love the pickup selection, what will be the wiring?
The headstock is extremelly cool
So what will be the colour? I sugest the greyish/purplish if you're going with clear. black if solid.

Very good question! I have no idea, I thought I would let Brian make that decsion since he knows way more than me about that kind of stuff....I also asked my ex-husband about his pickups in his Iceman, hoping to get a good idea of what to do with my new guitar because I really loved how his guitar sounded, here is a summary of that conversation:
me: what kind of pups do you have in your Iceman?
him: humbuckers
me: umm, yeah what kind?
him: Seymour Duncan's
me: sighing, yeah I know that, what KIND???
him: whatever model came out in 1985....
I start to remember why we aren't together anymore :smack:

Any thoughts you guys would like to share on the wiring would be appreciated... :)

Re: In the design stage.

I was think of something simple like this.

bridge vol
mid vol
neck vol
preamp vol
preamp vol
preamp vol

group of 3 switches
preamp on/off
preamp on/off
preamp on/off

group of 3 switches
bridge on/off
mid on/off
neck on/off

group of 3 switches
bridge coil tap
mid coil tap
neck coil tap

group of 3 switches
bridge coil splitting
mid coil splitting
neck coil splitting

Re: In the design stage.

I dig the headstock... the 1st design is OK, kinda sleek looking. Some top carving could be really cool on it. The 2nd one is just eeeeeevil. And I like it, too.

I thin my 7 year old niece would love it.
I prefer the other cutouts.

Re: In the design stage.

Custom low output 'dimebucker' type rail PUs wired to external preamp.
If you use one volume/tone setup, use one pre, if more controls, one per PU.

Re: In the design stage.

I would go with more symetrical curves on the horns and if you do go with the shooting star star position markers would be cool if you can do that. hehe

Re: In the design stage.

Not a big fan of the cutouts, myself. OTOH, inlaying a contrasting wood into the cutout (perhaps not all the way through the body) would be cool but a PITA.

Re: In the design stage.

Well, it depends on who's world would be inflected with the pain, if not the player's (you) I say go for it.

Some simple plan Briand eheh.

Just my sugestion, why not make it like a ES-Mitch (357). You could assign a pup to a seperate 3-way and select between having it off, on with whatever is on at the moment or alone. Since its having a preamp and all those controls I think it might be easier during play and keep you from having to many switches wich would probably make it look a bit clutered. Just my two cents.

LSP,

I was just playing. That setup would be to much for her right now. I will go with something simple. Probably for right now I will install a master vol and three, on/off/on toggles to turn pup on and off. I will use the on/off/on just for later upgrades to it.
