Incoming NGD - Gary Moore Gibson LP

Gary Moore has always been one of my favorite Les Paul players, but when the early GM LP's came out, I honestly wasn't impressed. I've always been a very traditional "a Les Paul has to have binding on the body and the neck" kind of guy. However, I've been on the lookout about 2 years now for a Les Paul that moves me. When I saw this one, it did just that. Something about the way it looks is just right to me....I can't describe it any other way, so I went with my gut and contacted the seller for a bit more info. Once I had the info I wanted, it seemed right so I pulled the trigger.

I hope it feels and plays the way I imagine and the way the seller has described it to me in emails. I bought it at a great price.... so if I don't like it or it doesn't sound good for some reason, I can always turn it around. I'll give a better review once it's here.

Oh, and I'll likely throw my Custom Shop Greenie Set in this. What else would I put in there??

Now for a couple of pics:

What else would I put in there??

Black Rose Duncan Custom Shop Ant/ 59 Hybrids? :D

....Kept the bridge pickup from the set, gave the neck to a cop in El Paso who used to be on here, I forgot his name, wish I could remember because he really really knew his way around pickups here, and was a great forum asset . I miss the neck pickup terribly ( although I could, and may order another from the Duncan Custom shop), but never regret for one instant giving the pickup to a good man who serves law and justice, especially in a place like El Paso, Tx.

-Sweet Paul BTW..I'm more than certain you'll be well pleased with it.

That one does look very nice indeed. I hear what you say about neck binding and I have guitars (inc LP’s) with and without... I prefer the feel of without. I hope that with your Greenie set its a keeper. Good luck.

Re: Incoming NGD - Gary Moore Gibson LP

I am also a big fan of Gary and also felt the same about the looks of this instrument when it was first produced and bought a Les Paul elegant custom shop instead.
Lately I have been lusting over Gary Moore lemon burst as its looks have grown on me.
With the amount of fakes around and the high cost of used classics like this I could get a well respected british luthier to make a (as good or even better ) copy with pickups and neck profile of my choice at a keener price.

Re: Incoming NGD - Gary Moore Gibson LP

Thanks guys. I'm really excited about this one; and as always a bit worried about buying a guitar I haven't held personally. I've bought most of my guitars over the internet and haven't had any real problems, so fingers crossed for one more good outcome.

This is definitely a guitar that has grown on me over the years, but recently I've really come to appreciate the uniqueness and beauty of the Lemonburst. I do love a great sunburst guitar as well, and specifically a HCB, Lightburst, Honeyburst, etc. I just have a harder time finding one that I like the shading and burst transition on. Usually when I find one with just the right burst, it's on a Historic or some other special edition that I have no way of affording.

I do realize of course that looks have no impact on how the guitar plays or sounds, but I'll admit to being a very visual person. The beauty of a guitar needs to move me as much as the tone and playability does. My grandma taught me years ago that people eat with their eyes as much as their mouths. So as we spent hours in the kitchen, she taught me about presentation in addition to great taste.

I digress as usual. The guitar will ship today from Washington state and with any luck it will be here by next weekend. Thank you all again for your kind words.

Sweet Jeebus that's hot!!!!

I would almost guarantee there is nothing wrong with that a screw driver adjust won't make perfect.
I think an Invader neck and a Dimebucker might really work some sonic mojo....

Hit it.

Re: Incoming NGD - Gary Moore Gibson LP

Hard to picture GM with that...I always see him playing guitars that look like they'd seen a dozen too many careless roadies and then played with reckless but elegant abandon in a thousand or more bars.
None the less that is an outrageously beautiful LP.

This is my favorite Gary Moor tune, even if it is more commercial.

I also agree that Gary likely wouldn't be playing such a nice instrument. It just looks right to see him playing that beat up, road worn magical guitar. I know he sold that famous 59' burst in 06' for financial reasons. Still, through friends or even Gibson I know he would still be rocking on an LP if he were still with us....... who knows, maybe even one of his sig LP's.

I'm really jonesing for this guitar to arrive. I just want to feel the neck and see what kind it has. I already know I'm not a huge fan of the Burstbuckers, but there are worse Gibby pups. I'm going to spend some time with it before I change pickups. I have sets of Ants, Seth's, APH's, a Brobucker, PG neck, 59' neck, an old 80's JB and even a custom set of pickups from CM Daugherty....... all without a home. Plus my Greenie set, which I love in my USA Dean Hardtail......but which might be too perfect to stay out of this LP in the end.

Lots of fun to think about. Like the song goes....." the waiting is the hardest part".

Yep, and a set of strings installed (correctly this time)! That is an awesome looking guitar.

Re: Incoming NGD - Gary Moore Gibson LP

The wood in that thing is amazing! I love the top.

I really like the natural binding or faux binding look.

Congrats

WIN!

I’m a sucker for a pretty face face on a guitar, and that one’s just sexy! [emoji1303]

Re: Incoming NGD - Gary Moore Gibson LP

Dude, your neck pickup was installed backwards. :jester:

Kidding. That fiddle is your ticket to rock and blues ecstasy.
