Waiting sucks. Seriously. Its coming from Seattle and I have been blowing up the UPS tracking website all week watching it's progress. Will pick it up at UPS on Monday.

I went outside the box on this one (for me). Got a little lemon to go with my Orange amp :)

Pics on Monday.

The color guess is on the right track.

The guitar guess is lukewarm trending cold.

Is there something etched in the corners of the humbucker covers?

Re: Incoming NGD..I feel like an expectant Father again :D

It is not a Hamer. GilmourD provided a big clue. It has arrived and I will be picking it up soon.

Pics and play will have to wait as I am doing all kinds of fun stuff today for/with my little girl. She turns 4 this week, but I have to work on her actual B-day.

PRS?

Sent by smoke signal from a covert location in the middle of the French North.

Re: Incoming NGD..I feel like an expectant Father again :D

And here she be.

The neck pickup is glorious. Its the opening of "ramhle on" in pickup form. The bridge pup is more bassy and agressive than I am used to. I had to really alter the settings on my amp. I need more time with it..

I backed to backed it with my traditional with t top clones. The Les Paul is les agressive with a much tamer/softer attack. It sustains about the same but the 245 just sings better.more overtones and paf-y. Notes swell into beatiful sustained feedback if I work it. It plays great but the gibson is easier to play..less tension and bends are easier...but to be fair it's topwrapped and has a flatter radius.

I think the recent changes of bridge/tp, finish, nut, and pickups, really has made a signficant improvement over the older 250s and 245s.

I have a few days to decide if it's a keeper

Re: Incoming NGD..I feel like an expectant Father again :D

Uh shiny and all that!
Does the neck behave?

My pictures are making it look worse. The new v12 finish is so much nicer than the older acrylic finish. This is much more like nitro (apparently a superscience mix of nitro and acrylic). Its not as shiny and plastic looking as the old finish.

Nech behaving? In what manner? Its quite stiff and the joint is rock solid.

EDIT-I just went down to the desktop/better monitor to look, and I will get better pics up soon. The guitar is very hard to photograph correctly. The color of the burst looks too orange/brown, and it has alot of magnificent growth rings, some mineral streaks and different flame from all positions. The dealers pics were kind of "meh" too. I wasn't too worried about how pretty it was, I'm not a big "flame top" guy in my old age, but I was hopeful it wouldn't be super fuggly, and it's far from it. It's super difficult to capture. It probably needs outdoor/natural light.

This is another pic I took earlier...if you have a decent resolution and big monitor you can kinda see the ^ shaped growth rings running from bottom to top on the pup selector switch side

Ahh....I see...

The new (to me) Pattern neck on the 245 is kind of like a super soft V. Not as much shoulder as the old wide fat neck. It's kinda like a boat-tail from warmoth without the depth. The neck on my Les Paul Traditional is a big honkin fat C getting close to a D..nearly like a R8 or R7...so the PRS neck seems small.

It's a big change, but I didn't find the PRS uncomfortable. Just felt weird/different. But I didn't seem to have much difficulty with it so far. I got used to it pretty well today I thought. It's got wider Fender style string spacing, and THAT feels weirder to me than the neck shape.
