Incoming NGD

I paid (with a $20 coupon) $559 for the D.C. Les Paul.
The nut is an adjustable brass zero fret type nut. From what I've read it wears quickly, so Gibson was (is?) sending out replacement nuts made of titanium, iirc.
Mine arrived yesterday. I had a chance to play it for about 20 minutes through my Blackstar. Tomorrow I'll have the whole day to run it through it's paces with the Quickrod. I'll post a more thorough review.
I will say that it played nicely but it is very different from my 2012 Standard.

Re: Incoming NGD

I've been going back and forth on whether to buy one...

On another forum i frequent, some of the members live near a San Ash location and went to the store to play them. Long story short....Sam Ash has received their last shipment from Gibson on these....when they're gone, they're gone.
I figured worst case scenario.... I bought it for $550 I could probably flip it for a small profit if I decide to get rid of it. At the very least I'm sure I could break even.

Re: Incoming NGD

I did a Cherry DC....

I've loved that specific guitar for so long, it's foolish to not get it at that price.

Thanks for the push over the edge! ;)

Re: Incoming NGD

LOL, I actually had to call them this morning about my order because I still hadn't gotten any tracking info for mine. The guy that I spoke to apologized profusely & then explained that they had sold a TON of them after that email went out about the sale so they are currently a bit backed up. He then made an off the cuff comment about being glad they were almost gone because their call center has been insane since!!!

Apparently this deal of theirs has everyone over there pulling their hair out running around trying to fill orders???

Re: Incoming NGD

Anyone else having problems getting their new 2015's from Sam Ash shipped out???

I bought mine on Tuesday morning & I kinda expected it to be here by now but it still hasn't even shipped!!! I called & they said that things were backed up because of the sale which is understandable but you'd think after 4 full business days they could have gotten a label on the stupid thing?

I've now been promised that it will go out & I will receive a tracking number on Monday. Hopefully they keep that promise because if not I think I'm going to have to cancel my order? I suppose for the price it's worth a little extra wait time but if they don't have their stuff together by Monday I'll just buy one someplace else. I mean Sam Ash isn't exactly a mom & pop shop & whatever the issue is they should have it solved by now???

LOL, on the bright side I bought some new tuners for it two days after I bought the guitar & they arrived yesterday!!!

Re: Incoming NGD

Great deal for everyone that got one! Normally, some of the most overpriced guitars that Gibson offers. If I didn't absolutely hate the necks, I probably would have bought the Special DC. I would love to get a hold of a proper LP jr. hard case though. The scavengers that part Gibsons out for a living charge an arm and a leg for those cases.

Congrats, everyone. Enjoy.

Re: Incoming NGD

I had a tracking the next day, and the guitar delivered the day after that.
I know it's tough but be patient. Don't cancel your order just yet. Give them a chance, they are human beings too and sh*t happens.

I understand the concern. I don't share your impatience and any rational for it, but if that's you, fine. But what I really don't get is where is the "someplace else" you can buy it? Under other conditions, yes. But not with this. Far as I can see you just ride it out here. Either you get one or you don't.
(I see you did get the correct nickel finish tuners!)

Re: Incoming NGD

It came....

It's a rock and roll machine! Sounds great straight into two of my amps so far.... (Spawn, Mesa)

Wider neck than I'm accustomed to, but it'll work... :smokin:

Sweet, congrats as well!

Yeah, both pickups sound great, IMO... I had no desire to plug in a boost, OD, Fuzz, etc. I just kept playing!

Auto tuner is interesting... my lazy side kind of likes it.

Yeah, I'm not 100% sold on the tuner just yet. I think the idea of it is great but sometimes it flakes out...
Maybe I just need to learn to use it better.
I did lower the bridge pickup a little. It was pretty high from the factory and maybe a little harsh. I've got to fiddle with it a little more and see if I can tweak it.
The setup was pretty good out of the box...

Re: Incoming NGD

Mine ended up shipping out on Monday & then it arrived yesterday on Tuesday & I'm quite happy with my new guitar!!! Everything seemed to check out alright as far as the neck angle, straightness, fret ends, Etc., so I called Gibson to order my Titaium nut then went ahead & put my new tuners on it last night....

Even with the Brass nut still on she plays & stays in tune just about as good as my 2015 Double Cut Special does & I expect that will be even better once I get the nut swapped out as well? Overall I'm glad I decided to buy it, I've always loved Jr's!!!

Plus the guitars Gibson put out this year came in pretty decent hard cases which is fantastic for me because my 2017 L.P. Traditional did not. I suppose the fact that I only paid about half of what it was worth might have something to do with it? Anyway, it has one now....

Congrats guys. Loving the Wraparound action \m/ The JRs are giving me GAS for sure.

Edit: FYI, if you guys are looking to upgrade the Wraparound, a Graph Tech Resomax Wraparound has saddles for more accurate intonation. A Mojoaxe CWT has a ridge that gives you pretty good intonation while retaining a vintage vibe. Both sound really good and will make your guitar sing.

Did you have to ream the tuner holes for those Sperzels or were they a direct fit?
Ive about had it with the G Force thing....

Im assuming those are the Trim Lock model?

I'd suspect the holes needed to be reamed; at least that was the case on my '96 Explorer & '01 LP Standard Plus.
