Indie/Garage Tele pickup

I've got one of the pink paisley tele reissues from a couple years back and the pick ups are just too wimpy for me. I'm looking for something that has a higher output to push my Marshall harder, but keeps that same tele treble. I want to get that harsh indie/noise/garage sound of The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Caesars Palace, Sonic Youth, Kula Shaker, Sloan, ...Trail of Dead, Interpol, etc. but that also could be beefier ala Supergrass, Muse, Primal Scream, Spacehog, and The Soundtrack of Our Lives. Perhaps I want too much...

The 'problem' is that I want it to look as stock as possible. I didn't get a pink paisley guitar to chop holes in it. But both 'old' pickups need to go.

Thanks a lot for any help you can provide. I won't have a problem putting them in (and replacing all the other crap in there), but I have no idea what to look for.

Try some Duncan Quarter Pouder Tele pickups.

I get a beefy rock tone from my 69 Thinline RI with a Hot Lead for tele. It's a lot louder than stock, but it still has great high end bite, plus with the tap engaged, I still get very convinving traditional tele sounds.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm going to look into them. I'm glad Seymour Duncan offers such a great resource like this. Certainly makes online shopping for their products a much better experience.

Another quick question, though, are there any online stores that you suggest?

Lews Guitars (2nd post) most likely has the pickups your looking for from his shop....though i don't want to speak for him

I just put a set of QP pickups in my Tele and I haven't stopped playing the guitar!

I am only familiar with 3 of the bands you mentioned, but from the ones I know (like Interpol), I'm pretty sure you want a humbucker in the bridge. I suggest a little 59.

Well for the creamier sound I usually use my Epiphone Supernova which I loaded with a Gibson Classic 57 and 57+. For this one I'm really going for that abrasive sound. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Qp is very abrasive, almost like a P-90. Sounds especialy good when tuned in D.

Im sure you'll like it.

I got the pickups and installed them today, but I want to make sure they work before I totally reassemble the guitar... Without wasting a set of strings if I did something wrong. Any suggestions?

you can plug the guitar into an amp without strings, turn the volume up, tap the magnets, and tell whether or not it works

actually, you can probably tell just by plugging in
