Invader question... Not about it's tone, either!

Is there a way to remove the black oxide caps? Will it affect the sound if there is a way? And lastly, does it look like a regular pole-peice underneath?

Thanks in advance.

I believe those are just hex screws. There is nothing "underneath" per se. You can simply unscrew them all the way out, and replace them with "regular" screws, but you want to make sure you use the right type metal. There's something in the Seymour Q & A about that, but it takes some searching to find.

Edit: Go to the main page>Support>Seymour Q & A>look at #30.

I think there are a couple others too.

Artie is right, regarding the caps being hex screws. The easiest direct replacement is hex screws, ala most DiMarzio pickups. I tried that on my Invader, and thought it sounded like ass afterwards, though.

Did you do it on one coil or both? I have an old dimarzio I'm willing to sacrifice just to see...

I actually think the hex poles instead of the button head screws were a big improvement. Tightened up the gain and high end was more prominent and took the fuzziness out of the muddiness. This was in a bridge position Invader in the bridge of a Les Paul, so YMMV.

I believe it would change the tone to go from those hex screws to anything else, would it not?

hmmmmmmm,. well, i dont think it will be good a idea to take off the caps, i heard that the invader has the exact same internals of the dd, but the difference is the caps, those caps is what give the invader its sound.
