Invader splkcing

Hi all, my first post and it's a quest for knowledge. I've just bought an invader humbucker for the bridge position of my 2014 Gibson LPJ. As has already been mentioned on the forum before the LPJ has a pcb in the cavity and the pups connect to this via a mini connector. The 5 wires running into the connector from the original pup are all color coded the same as the wires running from the invader, so can I just snip the original wiring and connect the invader by splicing it in (like for like color wise)? Thanks in advance.

No.

Use this to find equivalent colors:

Re: Invader splkcing

The wires may be the same colors, but they don't represent the same coils or orientation.

If you get into swapping lots of pups in the future, you may want to print out PFD's chart for reference.

Hey PFD, where did you find that great chart? It's much better/more complete than Seymour's.

Re: Invader splkcing

Sadly, there are no standards on pickup colors. So, if you ever get another brand of pickup, you will have to go through this again. Right now, it is pretty clumsy to attach or crimp a new connector onto a replacement pickup, but that's the option we have, short of replacing the whole PC board with standard wiring.

Re: Invader splkcing

For good measure, trace where the connector colours go to on the PCB, as I've found that the colour-coding doesn't necessarily follow what's expected.

Google image search for Pickup Color Codes, it's the top result now because it has more companies.
