Is it time for a new UGF pickup?

Is there really enough of a difference between the '59 wind and the Jazz wind to warrant that? I've never tried/heard one of those hybrids to know if it really is all that different from either of the parent pickups.

The '59/Custom Hybrid is not only two different winds but also two different wire gauges.

The Duncan line has a pretty healthy supply of new(er) models, Couple that with the previous line up and combine individual mods and you can get most anything you want already, really.

When I had my Squier Esquire, I would've loved if there was a JB Jr. for Tele. I think that would be great.

This is a serious suggestion, and not a forum design or group buy sort of thing, but I deeply wish they'd offer more of their 7 string humbuckers in the active mount housings. It would be great to try a Black Winter or one of their cool signature models or the new rail pickups without having to modify something or pay Custom Shop money.

You know what else would be cool in the Duncan lineup? A propper CC neck pickup, akin to the Fender/EVH Wolfgang neck. Maybe tweak it so it has a little less bass than the Wolfgang.

It also uses a thinner wire than the CC, similar to how a Tele neck has thinner wire than the bridge. This would make the neck DCR higher than the bridge, even though it's not a hotter pickup. This would generate conversation on the forums, and thus free advertising.

That might be cool too. Was thinking a Black Winter that looks like an invader .

I think that would sound way different. The big cap hex screws contribute a lot to the sound of the Invader and my guess is that they'd do the same thing to the BW - louder, darker, "barkier" maybe? More steel, bigger magnetic field.

Yes, but they still would sound awesome I think.

What "forum pickup" should SD do next? An advanced EQ + Boost pedal so people can realize the tone of their dreams with the pickups they already have! :lmao:

Seriously, though...we'll likely never see another "forum" pickup for a multitude of reasons, one of which is the fact that SD has basically tripled their pickup catalog since the whole "forum pickup" idea became a thing, meaning there's already a pickup for everyone, whether most of us want to admit it or not.

Plus, you can always get what you want as a Shop Floor Custom (custom colors, pole pieces, magnet swaps, etc) or as a regular Custom Shop order, so there's not a lot of incentive for SD to accommodate us and our indecisive ways.
