So what magazine didja send it too??
Actually, Guitarist are going to re-print it. It seems that my post started a bit of controversy between Seymour and Phil Taylor over differing recollections of how that guitar came into being. The controversy finally climaxed when the Seymour Duncan receptionist paged me while I was in the middle of meeting with, "Evan, there's a David Gilmour calling from England on Line One." :cool3:

The editors at Guitarist became aware of my post and said it was one of the only published accounts of the early days of that guitar.

It should be coming out shortly.

And for the record, Mr. Gilmour was a total gentleman about the whole thing. He really wasn't that concerned about the origins of the guitar except that he was considering donating it to a charity auction and he didn't want to get sued by the purchaser.

I'm not sure, to tell you the truth. I know it'll be included in an article about the world's most expensive guitars. My guess is that Guitarist readers will see it in a few weeks.

Re: Is It True That Seymour Once Owned David Gilmour's Famous 0001 Stratocaster?

In reference to Nuntius' newest thread, this thread will require a bump.

Re: Is It True That Seymour Once Owned David Gilmour's Famous 0001 Stratocaster?

Its in this month's guitarist, issue 259, got it right here. Evan, you are practically a columnist the amount of times i see your name in it.

Its a good issue this month, worlds most expensive guitars. Hendrix's Woodstock came out top.

Re: Is It True That Seymour Once Owned David Gilmour's Famous 0001 Stratocaster?

I'd heard that it was owned by Ernie Ball, but then again that was from a magazine...

I think Bill Carson actually got most of the "first" Strats... like prototypes in their final form.

On the old forum someone announced that the FIRST EVER production strat had been found... and that George Fullerton himself verified it. The owner's son came onto the board and confrimed it as well. It was designated the "Pro-1" Strat or something like that.

Sorry for the delay guys but I ran across this thread researching something else and figured I would comment. Been a while since I was even here :wave:
I'm really honored I was able to meet George Fullerton back in 2003. He was very open towards me and after watching the interview, it made me realize the wealth of information he had retained about the old days of Fender.
Here is a clip of George looking at my guitar;

I hope this sheds some light on to what he thought about the guitar. The real existence is still a mystery...
RIP George - you sure left a positive mark in guitar history.
