Is my Speaker ok?

I got a Vintage 30 stuck in my Marshall AVT50 combo, and I think I damaged it when I removed it. The styrofoam on the edge of the speaker is separated from the speaker in one spot, but I don't think the cone is damaged in any way. Is it ruined?

There's no styrofoam on a Vintage 30...you must be talking about the edge surround? Try patching it up with a little paper towel patch and rubber cement and see if it sounds OK.

Well, see, that's the thing. I don't have the means to test it. So I'm assuming it matters if that edge is separated? I want to sell it, but I don't want to sell someone a defective speaker.

Then take it out and fix it. :) Then reinstall it and play your guitar through it and see if it's OK. You have all you need: your guitar and your ears. It depends how badly damaged it is but take a look and see... Lew

Re: Is my Speaker ok?

are you talking about the gasket material that goes between the speaker frame and the baffle on your amp? if so, that isn't really anything to worry about.

is it possible for you to post a picture of the spot that you think is damaged?
