Is someone faking Mad Professor 1 pedals?

There a few online selling awfully cheap. I will buy one in a heartbeat if they are legit. (Please don't go buy one until I do if they are what they say they are!)

Yeah, there are Chinese fakes up on ebay... (I've seen the Deep Blue delay pedal specifically) for about $50-60

eBay.
Wow, do they fake the box & manual too? That is too much. I figured it was too good to be true.

Yeah it looks too good to be true. One of the sellers is saying that he got them from a Guitar Center that had to liquidate their stock, but normally if something like that goes out of business, they just ship all the gear in it to other nearby stores, not liquidate each store individually. The last time I remember a major company liquidating all their stock was when Circuit City went of out business, and the whole company went under, not just a few stores. Even the Guitar Center near me that went out of business just closed their doors the next day, not doing a big sale.

Re: Is someone faking Mad Professor 1 pedals?

Pretty sure it's legit since GC bought a ton of them and they were a flop so they were blowing them out for $50 at one point. Guess some people bought a bunch to flip.

Re: Is someone faking Mad Professor 1 pedals?

Yeah, like Mike says they were GC/MF exclusive and were blown out at bargain prices.

Re: Is someone faking Mad Professor 1 pedals?

Well in that case, I think I might go for it. I had no idea they were a GC exclusive. I took "liquidate their stock" to mean the store was liquidated, but now it sounds like that seller meant they liquidated their stock of those pedals.

Yeah, but this guy isn't making any money if he's buying them at $50 and then selling them at $50.

Could be he bought a bunch for a lump price & at $60 maybe he makes $20 or 30 per pedal? It looks like selling closeout stuff is his thing, not music equipment.

A little googling ..& viola! :laugh2:

I know there's copies of Wamplers around, at least.
I've seen side to side pictures and they're PROPER clones man. Super hard to tell apart.

Re: Is someone faking Mad Professor 1 pedals?

I've seen cheap copies of Xotic pedals, too, badly-executed and fairly obvious fake BB Preamps. These days, Chinese fakes of pedals and Shure mics are so ubiquitous that I just spend the extra bucks and buy from a reputable dealer like Sweetwater.

Yeah i've seen Caline & Neewer branded stuff that was supposedly clones of the two different Deep Blue delay types, i even considered getting one last year.

I love Mad Prof. Pedals!!! I've got several of them, one being a real Deep Blue Delay. I'm actually a little curious as to how different the two actually are? If you look closely they do say it's a clone but personally I think that's a straight up knock off! I would certainly hope there's some notable difference, I paid a hell of a lot more than $40 for mine!!!

As for the Mad Prof. 1's, I think those are probably actually legit? They weren't exactly Finland's greatest gift to society & a lot of them were sold & then returned. These could be returns from a large box store that are now being liquidated? Regardless of the price it's still one of their worst pedals! I bought one a while back for about $30 more than these are selling for & I returned it within a week! To date it's the ONLY Mad Prof. pedal I've ever sent back....

Re: Is someone faking Mad Professor 1 pedals?

Clone wise I have to say I love my
Chicago stomp works Rams head clone. I jumped ship from
The chorus hunt for a while and bought an alter ego delay from tc electronics. It has a setting to model the memory man with chorus. So hopefully it shall meet my
Needs chorus wise. I always run delay/chorus so that will take up a lot less Space on ye ol pedalboard

I hardly use ambient type pedals except for MINIMAL reverb &/or delay in the loop for solo's sometimes ..& that's only if I'm recording. I've got some SWEET >$50 Chinese pedals (Nux/Biyang) for that :D ... So no idea what a real Deep Blue Delay (or that clone) sounds like. I just remember seeing them up on ebay a while ago.

That's actually the only Mad Professor knock-off I've come across (also seen OCD's, OKKO Dominator's and a couple of other very obvious/cheap knock-offs) , so it may be true that they're returns/excess stock of the real thing. Pretty likely they were always made in China anyway and relabelled as 'made' wherever the hell they were supposed to be. I actually think that sort of thing happens a LOT :D

I really like the Golden Cello..if I came across one of those ..or a clone/knock-off/whatever (could'nt care less what they called it) for >$50 I'd jump on it :bigthumb:
