I dont think tools needed for certain genres and types of music and venues are dumb

if you need more low end, you will know when you and another guitarist and bassist and drummer get together in a small room and you cant hear the low end chugging on B standard tuning but you could hear it with a full stack and 100 watts not turned up all the way

a lot of factors, make sure you have the tools you need

I play some form of progressive hard rock. Is it dumb to think a rockerverb 50 won't be loud enough thru a single 4x12 cab? 4 piece band.

you can check out the Orange forum, for doom music they will say not enough low end

loudness and heavy low end are two different things

I have 2 212 cabs and turn them sideways so they are closer to my ears. with the thunderverb 50 bass transformers I get the low end I need.

Something that should be addressed is clean volume - do you need really loud cleans? If so, you should go for the 100 watter. I just traded away my 50 Mesa combo for a 180w Mesa head because even though the clean channel was loud enough, it would distort by the time it got to the volume I needed it to be at, and I didn't want that all the time.

Something to consider.
