I don't doubt this but I sure don't understand it.
Some people insist that there's no diff between these four magnets except for the strength of the magnetic field.
That doesn't explain the tonal differences.
Alnico 5: Very strong bass, moderate mids, strong treble
Alnico 4: Strong bass, stronger but edgier mids than alnico 5, bright crisp articulate treble.
Alnico 2: Softer bass, strongest mids, softer treble
Alnico 3: Compared to a2 and a5 Tele pickups, the a3 Nocaster pickups I had seemed to me to have less bass (maybe) but definately less mids and more treble than a2.
What that all about????
