IF SOMEONE ORPHEOS ME I SWEAR TO GODDAMN HELL IMMA SHOOT MY ****

EDIT: I just can't even bear the idea of getting Orpheo'd on this one, so I'm taking down the ad. Here's the cab in question, selling for $350 loaded with a Mesa branded Celestion C90 and a Electrovoice EVM12L.

I'm looking for a second 2x12 to go with my Bassman so I can leave the monstrosity that is the matching cab at band practice space. This one would be used for home recording and eventually playing in a classic rock cover band. I'm open to changing the speakers if it doesn't sound the way I want/need, but is this at least a good deal?

Sorry, I called the guy and he's going to ship it to me for 400.00. A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.

Re: Is this a good deal?

I have no idea what being Orpheo'd is, so I'm asking what is it?

Could anyone find me a link of the original thread that started the joke? Is it as epic as the original Iceman'd thread?

I have no idea what either of those mean.

*Edit* Read the Orpheo'd thread.

Re: Is this a good deal?

They go for around $300-$350 around here. Still a good deal at $350 IMO. They are REALLY good sounding cabs... the open back adds so much to the cleans. Ive been on the hunt for one in really good shape... just really hate that ****ing grill.

Re: Is this a good deal?

I wish I could find one of those in the midwest. I have been eyeing the Road King 2x12, since it is similarly a Black Shadow 90 open-back side, but has a Vintage 30 in the sealed back side. That cab is $6-700 new though. An old Boogie half-back for $350 is definitely a great deal!

Yeah, I hate the grill too. I figure there's got to be a way to cover the ****er with grill cloth. It'd look so much better that way. Hmm, what if I got some aged silverface grill cloth to match my Bassman and cab? That'd be the ****

I didn't know that the road king was a half back, that's pretty cool. I don't like that it's a horizontal cab though, I've been so used to my vertical cab for so long that I'd hate to have a horizontal one. And haters gonna hate, I realize I could just put the horizontal cab on its side, but then the amp will stick out over the edges and that just looks stupid as ****. My Bassman would look **** on top of that 2x12.

I offered the guy $320 since that's what I can afford without making myself TOO broke, hopefully he'll take it.

Re: Is this a good deal?

No idea if that's a good price....so I can't comment there. But....I'm assuming this is the EVM12L & V30 (open portion), add doesn't seem to say what the top speaker is though....I gigged with one of those + SF bassman, for a while (loaned from a friend when our van was messed up and we didn't have room for a 412)...and it sounded amazing with my bassman. With fuzz it was huge. By far one of the best sounding cab+amp combos I've ever played through. And the easiest I've ever gotten controlled feedback onstage @ club friendly volumes. If you're planning to use this with your bassman, then whatever the price, it is worth it. Just buy it, and prepare to be very very disappointed with your fender cab. Disappointed like a dad catching his son watching BBW porn.

....not that the fender cab is bad. That Mesa cab is just that much better suited for use with a bassman (especially if you like fuzz).

Yeahhh that's what I like to hear. It says in the ad that the open portion has a Mesa Black Shadow. Never used that speaker before (or a EVM12L for that matter) but I love my Bassman and I love my fuzz pedals. I have three muffs and a fuzz face on my board lol

I can't imagine it being THAT much better than my fender cab. The thing is absolutely massive and has blown every cab that I've ever tried out of the water. Plus, it's got a great speaker complement (Cannabis Rex + Texas Heat) and when the old particle board baffle disintegrated on me, I even made a new one out of plywood, vastly improving the tone of the cab.

That said, I'm totally willing to be proven wrong. I really hope I can get my grubby paws on this thing.

Re: Is this a good deal?

I don't think it's a great deal, but it's worth buying. I'm sure you could have a grillframe&cloth made that would attach with Velcro. You can't even get those old EV12L's anymore, I think they're slightly different now, and awesome speakers, so I hope you get it!!!! And when you're done with it, I got dibs on it. ;-) I would drop my Weber 55Hz in the upper part, and GG.

EDIT:
I found the ad LOL - it was posted 08-02-13, I bet it's gone... :-( anyways, I was just thinking that it kind sucks that it's a 4 ohm cab, not sure if that's good or bad for your Bassman.

Well I called the seller and it's still available, thank god! I don't have all the money right now, but I get paid on Wednesday of next week and I'm going to go out that day and pick it up.

Re: Is this a good deal?

Will be very loud.

Make sure that the 12L at least is working and not scratchy, these are annoying to recone if you want OEM cones.

Wow, that's cool. Probably cuz it's so ugly! LOL

So, he agreed to hold it for you? Maybe you should give him a deposit.

Re: Is this a good deal?

two EVs would be the beeez neeez. I'd get it, sell the mesa one (or is it basically a clone of an EV?) and find a used second EV to load into it. worth firing it up like that though just to see what's shaking.

I just called him and he said he'd go $325. I'm meeting him at Starbucks at 1 pm.

j/k!
