Is this legit or am I getting the run around.

Re: Is this legit or am I getting the run around.

Thats great.
How hard was it to get them to shift from their initial nonsense position of 'just some light sanding needed'??
You just wonder sometimes whether thats the default 'go away' response, as I have had that reply to me as well for serious construction issues.

Round 1 email and phone support is generally done by outsourced people in India, who browse your complaint for keywords and choose a template response that is meant to discourage you

Nicer companies delegate Round 2 to actual customer service people if you persevere, and nastier companies have a more personalized go-away-responder at Round 2, and only let you at a customer service person ALLOWED to attempt to help you at Round 3 or Round 4

Re: Is this legit or am I getting the run around.

Once I sent them the pictures with my micrometer they said send it back.

Re: Is this legit or am I getting the run around.

Update. Got the new body back yesterday and its spot on. This one took a light sanding and I now have a perfect neck pocket. I will be starting a build thread soon.

Can’t wait to see what you do with this!!

Wow! I so want to build something like that. I have no idea what I would use it for, but it would be a blast. Looking forward to the build thread.

Re: Is this legit or am I getting the run around.

That's a 2-3/16" neck pocket. They're mistaken, clear QC fail on the part of whomever routed the neck pocket

2-3/16" = 2.188" + room for finish = 2.1995 as you have here

No, you're going the wrong way. After adding finish the pocket width would be LESS than 2.188, not more. His neck is already 2.256. It won't even come close to fitting. And "light sanding" (even HEAVY sanding) won't help much.

Good luck, yeah, that is a major fail. FWIW, don't you mask the neck pocket before finishing? All of my guitars are raw wood in the neck pocket, you don't want paint in there.

Just saw the update pics, looks awesome!!! Alder? What kind of finish are you going to do?

Read it again, mate...I was clearly pointing out that the original body was indeed 2-3/16" and that the wider neck would not fit. To your point, he would have had to further sand the original pocket to accommodate a thicker finish anyway, if that was the plan.

As for me, I don't usually paint neck pockets, just sand and seal them with a couple thin coats of TruOil to keep the joint super clean.

Doesn't matter anyway because the problem has been remedied!

OP, that new body looks great, by the way! Cant wait to see it finished!

Me too. MIJ Charvel pro-mod neck, single slanted floyded body that I'd paint slime green....oh billy.

Looks great can't wait to see the completed build!
