is this possible?

well, B2D told me about this trick where you put an EQ pedal in the effects loop, set the EQ part at 0, and use the level controll to get an, oh, 5 or so db boost, but any more than that just distorts the crap outta the power tubes

so would it be possible to make like...a negative feedback loop or something like that that would eliminate some of the excess noise & allow like a 10db boost?

and no i haven't tried using a noise gate yet

Re: is this possible?

There is already a negative feedback loop in the amp's circuit. You could try increasing the amount of negative feedback.

Re: is this possible?

I really hate to be Mr. Obvious here, but why are you trying to use an EQ to reduce noise??

Use a noisegate, man. It's what they were designed for.

I only use +5dB because any more than that is either a) too loud for the given needs or b) distorts the power tubes. Every amp handles it differently.

I have a GE7 and I use it in front of the amp but without mods its kinda noisy... its much quieter in the effects loop and I should be putting it there but oh well... I have mine right after my distortion pedal.

I dunno about the negative feedback but usually a well-dialed NS2 is what I used to use for noise in amp and pedal setups in GC.
