Is This Real Life? Is This Just Fantasy? (NGD YO!)

Re: Is This Real Life? Is This Just Fantasy? (NGD YO!)

I must have missed this the first time around!

Congrats!

Sosomething, do you still have the blue Morse?

Good to see you back.

Worth noting: I changed the pickups a few months ago. I love the guitar even more now. Also, the incredible top is much more prominent in this picture.

I would get a cream single coil but nobody makes them except Dimarzio and they're not easy to get. Unlike almost every single coil ever, this one is specially wound on a humbucker bobbin so it matches the humbucker perfectly. It has a custom baseplate too, so finding someone to replicate it is next to impossible. I could have the SD custom shop do it, but their shade of cream isn't the same as Dimarzio's. That may sound vain, but so is switching the pickup to make it match in the first place.

Have you considered a bobbin topper?

I actually tried one and it was pretty crappy. If you pick anywhere in the vicinity of the pickup your pick will cause it to lift around the edges. I also play hybrid a lot, and my finger kept catching the end of it, causing it to lift even more.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that guitar needs all black pickups.

No, I ended up getting rid of that. I'm trying to remember what I traded it for... Whatever it was, it's gone now too. Maybe that Suhr I had for a while? No matter. :)
