Is this too good to be true?

Re: Is this too good to be true?

Tell those teens to invest in an audio taper pot for the master. That is a common stupid thing Fender does these days, especially on the Hot Rod series. Linear pots go from 0 to Insane in a short travel of the spindle. Audio taper pots take their sweet time getting to volume.

In your typical amp

Distorting tubes > EQ > FX Loop > Master Volume > Power Amp

So there you have it, it's pretty useless to add a volume knob right before the volume knob if you ask me...

YET ! .. some teens on a Dutch forum love them, one had trouble dialing in a decent volume since a slight movement of the MV made the volume go from too quiet to too loud and this helped him to get more control over the volume.

The other had trouble with a high output from his FX send, distorting his modulation things until he found this.

Oh well, whatever floats your boat. :)

Two perfect examples where it comes in handy.

ElUnoAstuto: Yes, it really is just a log taper pot (100K) and 2 mono jacks. Less than $10 in parts from Radio Shack. Pecan's sounds like one I've seen on the DIY boards, can't remember exactly what it is though but's more of a stompbox booster, very tiny circuit, as opposed to this.

Hey ErikH, do you know where I can get a schematic for that DIY "Booster/volume" pedal?
