Minion of One
I was jamming on a Vox AC15C1 the other day and loved it... I have heard they have big issues with reliability. Whats the deal with this? Anyone have good or bad experience with their amps?
With the tube Vox's, it's often tube related or heat related.
The Valvetronix amps have a shelf life of about 7 - 8 years, like most appliances these days....at least my blue grill head did. And once they go, and are out of warranty, it's the same price to buy a new one as it is to pay to fix it.
Lets just say this.....
If you are using both a VOX and a Gibson Les Paul, you're going need a new setup by the time you're done jamming.
It might just be a certain chords though.
Strike a B minor and the headstock will fall off while the VOX will spontaneously catch on fire.
Trust me. I seen it.
I've got an AC15C1. Had it for about 8 months now with no issues. The tubes went bad very fast but that was a simple fix.
The amp does get hot and I have heard that it can burn through tubes pretty fast. We will see how long my new tubes last compared to the cheapo chinese tubes that came with it.
I love mine and would recommend it to anyone in the market.
i REFUSE to open my AC4TV because of the fact every known way to get electrocuted is right at the tubes... I do though want a merc-mag set and a celestion gold g10 in there though![]()
