It's coming......

Re: It's coming......

Oh man, that's a sweet amp. That's the Buckwheat model right?.....with 6L6's? Tube rectifiers really give it more touch responsiveness too. That's one amp I'd love to have.

Re: It's coming......

Well Done.!
I worked on a Crema Wheat last year. Power tube failure.....no fault of the amp. I had it for a few weeks while the guy was on vacation. Was a big hit with all my guitar player buddies.
Adam knows what he is doing with these classic, cat biased amps of days gone by.
I imagine your Buck Wheat is a bigger iron and more powerful version.
Let us know after you have had it for a while.

congratulations!

A Tungsten has been on my list ever since I saw Greg V's Crema Wheat demos! :)

Re: It's coming......

Thanks so much, everyone!!

Some initial, quick thoughts: It arrived yesterday. Even though I didn't buy this amp for my straight-ahead jazz sound, I got to play it through my Campellone Archtop and I was surprised at the clarity of the amp. Clean sounds are very alive, nice frequency response - exciting highs and mids especially. The Les channel sounded incredibly beautiful, Moe channel has more being pushed up in the EQ. I can tell already that the Buckwheat is a high-quality machine. btw, the pictures do not do the brown tolex/wheat grillcloth justice.

I bought the amp for my 335 and pedals (none of which I had with me when I got the amp), so we will see how it sounds when I get back home in May. I will experiment with jumping the channels and running the amp in stereo with my Tweed Twin, Princeton Reverb clone, or Henriksen JazzAmp. And of course, I really have to break the amp in, put it through its paces, and try it at all volume levels... I have another trick up my sleeve guitar-wise that will be used with this amp too :14:

I've never owned a true boutique amp before i.e., a "hybrid" amp of sorts based on a few old designs with modern enhancements vs. a clone (like my Princeton Reverb clone) which, although has a couple of mods, strives for the same basic sound and feel as a time-tested design, vs. a reissue which plays an arguably similar role to a clone, but has a Fender logo on it...

I'm really excited to have this amp as a working part of my rig!

Yes, it's the Buckwheat!

Where did you get it?

I ordered it direct
