Japanese made messed-up production

Re: Japanese made messed-up production

Not saying anything about the offensiveness about the term more just stating that these other forums that are quick to react to this sort thing arent compelled as much by their feeling offended as they are compelled by their desire to be combative.

Funny. On those other forums, it never got to the point of being combative. People stopped using it, and the thread continued.

Now that's funny. Subtext is everything sometimes.

Re: Japanese made messed-up production

Ummm yeah the OP's post didnt promise anything in the way of pics so I think your digging for gold in a coal mine thread closed or not.

Gotta hand it to the OP though who would have guessed that a space cadet post like that would have gotten this good of a reaction.

We do it up right 'round here! :beerchug:

Re: Japanese made messed-up production

Some people want to get robbed. But we still shun thievery.

Ok now explain just exactly who wants to get robbed? Even then this is a bogus arguement so what if there are people that want to get robbed that changes nothing about people looking to be offended (side note not claiming you are but the post you quoted was claiming that)

Re: Japanese made messed-up production

Can we get back in track here?

"There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know."

Donald Rumsfeld

Food for thought... ;)

Can we have a separate thread for this? I think it merits some semi-intelligent discussion. But I'm ready to look at guitars now, too.

Re: Japanese made messed-up production

Ok girls, I have read the thread and here are the rules.

We dont make fun of people based on race, origin, sexuality or any other thing that can be dispariged apon. At the same time we do understand that there are common terms to describe certain items that are not meant to been understood as hurtful. Hurtful is the object of that sentence.

A little history lesson for all of you:

Back in the 70s, Americans guitars were turd cutters. Fender with their 3 bolt necks, Gibson with pancake bodies. They were internalizing profit and passing it off as quality goods on their name but it didnt float. I owned a few and for the most part they were shoddy. Not always but often.

The Japanese started building better guitars at a lower cost and chewed up the market. My father owns a late 70s Ibanez Birdland which is one of the finest guitars I have ever played and is still to this day a fine musical instrument. I also ownes a 92 Ibanez RG-550 and I would have put that guitar up against any Fender product made in the last 40 years. It was a rock solid instrument.

When I say a guitar is a "Jap-Strat", it is a compliment because those guitars were awesome. They are the reason that American guitars are what they are today. Without the Japanese guitars from the 70s throught the 90s, American guitars might still be junk. I played an original Jackson in black cherry back in the early 80s (think model 6) and instantly fell in love with the color and fret work. I still dream about that guitar.

If you want to say that Japanese internment camps were a good idea you will probably get banned or barred. But in my opinion "Jap-Strat" is a compliment. I would love to own one again.

Don't be mean but also, don't be too fussy. There is always enough love tro go around.

Jessie's Ghost is a wuss. He/she's gonna tell our mommies on us.

What kind of wuss picks a fight here and fights it alone without apologies or compromises?
