Are they up there with Agile/SX and what not for wood quality? I know some of the forum bros have some. I've found a sweet one on e-bay and want to know what the quality will be like. i know they're cheap guitars but I'm hoping for a pleasant suprise. :fingersx:

Re: Jay Turser quality

argghhhhh. I really like this guitar and there's nothing else out there like this. I don't want a piece of crap though.....

Re: Jay Turser quality

BTW, I'd replace all of the parts. The only the thing that'd hold me back is if the finish or the neck is horrible. So tell me of those are the problems.

Re: Jay Turser quality

I have played a lot of jay's because the store where I first took lessons had them in stock all the time. IMO, don't even go close to one. If you want something similar, fender is much better. I would go squier any day before jay turser.

Crap. This sucks

I can't find anything this cool. Especially in Seafoam or Pink

Re: Jay Turser quality

Don't forget tho, everything I'm saying is my opinion. If you really like that guitar, play it, and if you like it, by all means, buy it. I am in no position to tell you what guitar is good and wich is not. I'm just offering my opinion.

Right now my opinion is that you should also concider brands such as squier and epiphone. They might be a little more expensive that the j-t, but I believe they are worth it.

Yeah, none of those guitars are cool. They don't come in cool colors. I already have a squier and I hate it. Epiphone's are just boring. Plain and simple (pun)

Re: Jay Turser quality

It all depends on what you like better : looks, or quality. Personally, I think that choice is an easy one to make. If you think that epis are boring, there are other companies out there that are better than j-t IMO.

It seems that you have your mind set on one of those tho, so I supose there is no use telling you other wise. Just make sure you try one out before buying one.

Well, I like both. Otherwise I wouldn't have posted this thread. If a guitar looks stupid but plays well. I'll go for a different one

Yeah, I kind of do.

I can't find any dealers on the Jay-Turser page :argh:

Dude....one maker for you

www.hammguitars.com

all guitars under 300$ Canadian and come with a gig bag :)
I have one and it just rocks.

www.guitarscanada.com/Board

for LOTS more information. If you live in Canada you can even try the guitar out COMPLETELY free

anyway, yeah, lots of people have bought hamm guitars already, so yeah, check them out. They wont stay this price for long I bet!

edit: Another nice thing is the pickups. Most cheaper guitars (sub 600$) come with crap pickups. This guitars pickups were GREAT stock. Couldnt believe it.

eh, again: Boring.(no offense). I'm not a fan of sunbursts. I'm sure they're great guitars but if I can find a guitar that comes in the color that I want, at a cheap price, that's at least okay quality, I'll be happy.

p90s are a must. I won't do phat cats either. I like how p90s look and sound. I've tried Phat Cats and they were.....meh

Re: Jay Turser quality

The problem goes as follows :

- You want a guitar that looks good.
- You want p-90's.
- You want a guitar at a super low price.

The thing is cheap guitars with specialty features is that to have those features in the guitar, you will have to cut down on quality somewhere else. I know you think that most of our suggestions are boring, but perhaps those guitars would not sound boring. I have seen many guitars that did nothing for me visually, but once plugged in, they seemed very interesting.

yeah, the problem is that I won't play a heritage cherry, bursted, black, or cream guitar. That leaves me with few options

I can do a bit of a higher price. But nothing much seems to be up there either. :(

Re: Jay Turser quality

This post has pretty much drifted from the original question of the quality of the guitar. It's now a question of color, and the typical debate of looks vs function. With that, there is no advice that can be given.

Re: Jay Turser quality

I've never played one, but they look great, I'm sure if you switch out the main parts it would sound great....its just taking that chance.
