Re: JB is driving me NUTS!

No offense, but his tone sucks nowadays. Sounds just like everybody else-- overprocessed.
I blame the:
Fractal Audio Systems Fractal Audio Systems Axe-Fx II
Fractal Axe FX Ultra Preamp
DigiTech GSP1101 Preamp
Marshall EL34 100/100 Dual Monobloc Power Amp
Rocktron All Access Controller
Ebtech Hum Eliminator
Rockman XP-100 (Used on SFSGSW)

Granted some of the Axe FX stuff is pretty cool.

Re: JB is driving me NUTS!

Just another data point for OP: I've had the exact same issue. JB + '59 in an LP. Bridge super fat but with an inescapable dentist drill overtone. Neck overpoweringly bassy.

I say get reed of heem. A2pro set looks very nice.

The suggested 250k pots goes a long way to correcting that issue. Probably why it was suggested by some

Re: JB is driving me NUTS!

I had an issue where a JB in my SG Faded (mahogany) sounded dull and flat. But with a 500k pot believe it or not it opened it up for the better along with the Jazz in the neck. I gained a lot of clarity and don't find it trebly or ice picky, but keep in mind the SG Faded is a VERY dark guitar to begin with. It's now got the punch and power it otherwise didn't have and sparkle in my mahogany SG.

So for some, like me 250k was not the solution but the problem. Take it for what it's worth.

I also hate the 300k stock pots Gibson uses. Atleast in this specific guitar. It's my only Gibson so maybe those pots are wonderful in other models.

I just hate anything that sounds muffled.
