hey guys, my friend is looking for a good tube amp and i pointed him towards a JCM 800 but i didn't know which model. I played a 100 watt head one time and this is what i'm basing my knowledge on. A JCM 800 4210 just showed up at a guitar shop nearby and I was wondering if this is worth the 650 USD they are charging for it. The 100 watt head Itried out and I was wondering if this is of comparable quality. I guess the real question is if all of those models are of comparable quality. We'll head down and try it out first of course. Just wondering if it's worth it.

Thanks
-Marc

EDIT: i know it's not a cab, bad title

SOunds good to me. If it has el-34's and works i would buy it. I think those are the 2x12 combos.

Alright thatnks a lot....He was gonna buy an MG series and I had a nice long talk saying NO! This fits his style form what I've played on the 100 watt version

Just looking at the pictures on Google it looks like a 1x12

Re: JCM 800 4210 1x12 amp

I believe the 4210 is either the 100 watt version of the 2 channel 800's, or the 50w 1x12. I have a 4212, and it is 50w, two channels, 2x12 combo.

At any rate, $650 is a good deal for that, provided it's in decent shape. They are very underated amps, and with a few simple tweaks by a competent tech can really make some great changes to the clean channel and the drive channel.

All in all a great amp.

I like the 1x12 over the 2x12. probably loud enough (depending on what drummer). but you can plug it into a cab. definitely light and portable enough. all jcms are awesome; I prefer the 1 channel for tone purposes, but many others need 2 channels. good price, play before you buy at reasonable band volumes.
