Jimi Hendrix JH-1 crybaby

Re: Jimi Hendrix JH-1 crybaby

I had a pair of JH-1's, they're good, nice fat sweep. However note that the effective range of the sweep is mostly in the midranges. This means that you won't hear much if your tone is scooped out, whereas if you have a stratty or mid-heavy sound you'd probably be pretty impressed.

So your friend may have to use a different guitar tone to fully take advantage of it, depending on what he normally plays leads with. Most wah pedals have a set range they work with, except the ones where you can program in the sweep range, like the dunlop rackmount.

Having said that, it's a great pedal and very effective.

Re: Jimi Hendrix JH-1 crybaby

I had it... it was OK. I thought it was better than an Original Crybaby because like Koreldyre said, my sound is very mid-heavy. But, I've since gotten a Vox847 and it blows it away... especially after some mods done by Stratdeluxer97.

Re: Jimi Hendrix JH-1 crybaby

Isn't it the same as the original crybaby, just that one of the caps has been changed from a 0.01uF to a 0.022uF?

Re: Jimi Hendrix JH-1 crybaby

It's the same circuit as the GCB-95 with 2 additional caps. Not worth the extra $$$ IMO. I modded mine to JH-1 specs and wasn't all that impressed so I pulled the caps back out.
