Wow. Johnny Marr is an incredible guitar player, but seriously, $244,000 for a guitar? It would have to contain trace amounts of spunk from that asexual Morrisey to be worth as much.

Worth??? Its worth what someone is willing to pay. And its not like there are just 59 bursts lying around. The holy grail costs you know......and thats almost cheap for that year. Even Kirk Hammett had to sell some things to afford Greeny.

All things considered I think that is at least a realistic price for Johnny Marr's guitar, the Grainger guitar is a little crazy but that top is out of hand.

Looks great, my favorite kinda burst colour. Not too flamey and looks well taken care off. 217K is a little steep for me though .
Kinda sad knowing that guitar probably won't get played ever again.

These guitars are like the Rock n Roll equivalent of a Stradavarius, original Steinways or the like. The prices are shocking but that doesn't mean they're for fools. A lot of times these guitars go in to collections that get lent out to prominent players and that's a really cool thing. Guitars are one of if not the most popular instrument in the world, the historic pieces are going to cost some real money there's only so many to go around.

I saw a Stradivarius guitar once, behind 2 inches of glass. Very few of them were made only 4 - 5 were known to survive. Priceless is an understatement

thats weird, I'd expect that guitar to be at least 400K? They say the 59 burst is the first "millon dollar guitar", so whats up? Must be something awry here.

One of the issues with an actual 59 Burst is that either a doctor, lawyer, celebrity, famous musician, or other well-to-do multi-millionaire will own it and it may never again be played.

It is not all original. For me the changed pots would be the biggest issue not that I am in the market for a 59 Burst.

has changed tuners (originals will go back on), snakebite, changed bridge posts, original ABR-1, changed pots

For some just that solder connections have been broken would be a huge issue.

Still it's a beauty with some legit provenance

Well, I personally would not pay for it but I am not a collector and an amateur guitarist at best. That being said, I could see a collector wanting these, its not like you can pick up an actual 1959 Les Paul anywhere...

Then you'd be in for the 7-figure LP's then......and it would be rare to find a burst with full originality

50's pots are still available. They are not a deal breaker for most lets face it - not like missing the pickups for example.
