Nice score Jump! I had that item on my watch list.
Thanks, it was at too good a BIN price to pass up on. I did some more checking on the seller and found out that he just bought this amp back in late January and at that point it was only 6 months old.

I was going through my watch list and when I got to the ended items I saw your username and thought 'Hey, I know that name!'

I'm still undecided about getting the 50 watt combo (50 because it has a 12" speaker and, of course, adjustable wattage) or the head. But again, I think you got a terrific deal. Congrats!

I really like blasting my amp all the way up on the 1 watt settings....LOL...I mean it's loud, but it's tolerable...

That (1 watt) would probably be my most used setting in this little 3 bedroom house of mine!

Yeah but the 60x60 setting makes the walls rattle and stuff falls off the dressers in our room...Now that's a cool thing... :laugh2:

I have a tonelabSE pedal board I've been using for the last six months or so - I just love the boutiqueOD modeler - I've dialed in some incredible dumble tones ala Robben Ford - one of my favorite is setting the amp up at medium/low gain and setting the on/off switch to engage the treble boost pedal (pretty much maxed) in the neck single coil pickup of my G&L - this results are sonically awesome! Thick, rich but with the attack like a bridge pickup on a normally overdriven amp! I amazed at what this thing can do.

Lots of cool info there! I'm still wondering why this guy insists on putting a Boss EQ pedal before the amp, and also in the FX loop.....sounds kinda ridiculous to me.
One of his comments made me wonder what the Valvetronix would have sounded like if they'd used an EL-84 instead of the 12AX7?? All I can say is the Vox rig is the best sounding home practice setup I've ever plugged into. Normally, I use it in the 15W setting, since it sounds better to me than the 1W setting. Man, I wish they had a variable wattage selector on the back of every amp! I think tube amp companies should take note of that feature and figure out a way to cut the transformer's power down, so the tubes still get pushed the same.

Funny....I thought the exact same thing as you! Some of the stuff the guy talks about is total overkill on an already great all around sounding amp....I have some NOS EL84s here at home and I had the same thoughts as you(To try them)...I guess the pin outs are the same and I didn't know you could do that...I think I'll just leave well enough alone. The long plate RCAs are great and I guess Vox/Korg would have used EL84s if they made the amp better? Ya know?
