I was bidding on Jason Lollar's pickup winding book on eBay. I lost. The dude who won paid just under $160. Sucks...:gurmpy:

I kind of wonder why he doesn't reprint it, since there seems to be a decent amount of interest.

however, I wouldn't want to spend $160 for it.

I'd rather put that much money towards a winder.

here's a quote from Jason on the AMPGE forum about the book:

It is and has been out of print for a while so all copies are probably gone unless you can find a used one, I dont know if or when it will be updated and re-printed, no immediate plans for it.
Martin Koch has a book called build your electric guitar or something like that that has a little information in it.
My book dealt with manipulating the materials, no big secrets just mostly working with the wire, building pickup bobbins and putting it all together, all the basic mechanical stuff.
It was really meant to have Guitar Electronics for musicians along side of it which deals with why pickups work and gives alot of examples of different manufacturers product. I didnt want to re-write that book but it had nothing in it about how to actually make a pickup.
I wouldnt let not having the book stop you, there really are no big secrets, if you spend the time doing it youll figure it out, much like guitar playing, the more time you spend winding- and more importantly experiment- the more you see how deep you can go and how complex it can get.

Yeah, kind of strange. I emailed Lollar about the book and they are pretty adamant about not reprinting. Makes me think that there just might be some info in the book that he doesn't want people to know (despite what he said at ampage)--like he gave too much info. Pickup winding is kind of a black art. Lots of misconceptions and such.

I think the fact that a spiral bound, black and white copy of book sold for $160 shows that people want to know how to wind a pickup though. And it seems that no one wants to share that info--or books would be readily available.

I'll get a copy one way or another...
