Just scored a Peavey VTM60... Now what about a cab?

I just got a Peavey VTM60 head off of ebay. Now, I'm just kind of wondering what kind of cab would go good with this? It's supposed to be similar to a JCM800. I'm going for a nice hard rock borderline metal kind (Mastodon, Sabbath, Baroness, The Sword, Tool) of sound I can roll off and maintain a good tone... I just don't want the cab to make that suck.

We have all the current lines of Peavey Cabs in the store I work at, so I think I'm going to give those a whirl. Any other cabs I should take into consideration?

Yeah Baroness uses these amps along with a Fulltone OCD. As far as cabs go, what is your price limit? Look at Avatars I would say.

I'd like to stay around $500ish... Preferably under. But a crappy cab will make an awesome amp crappy, so if I have to make the sacrifice, so be it.

Look on craigslist, you can usually find a Marshall 1960 on there for under 5 bills. They may not be a Mesa or Orange, but they get the job done. Now if you don't mind a 2x12, you could find a Mesa or Orange for under that price too...Happy Hunting!

I have one of those VTM60's........it sounds pretty good with my Marshall 1960a/b cabs. I put a pair of TAD 6L6GC-STR powertubes in it and it really made it sound better. It'll get muddy real quick if you use the DIP switches for bass boost......I boost the gain and add the compression but thats all..........if I remember correctly.
I don't use the amp much these days, I need more than one channel!
