As someone who enjoys nice amps, and owns a Bogner Ecstacy, SLO, 69 Superbass, 1981 JCM800, Legacy 3, I was always curious about the JVM410, the Marshall flagship of recent years. Saw a mint example on Reverb with footswitch for $1500 and pulled the trigger. It's a terrific amp for those who love the Marshall sizzle! With effectively 12 channels, it gives you, in my opinion 95% of every Marshall amp ever made, which was their goal. First play thru was with my Pacifica Superstrat brought an immediate smile to my face. For those who like the slightly brighter (Similar to Soldano brightness), Marshall sizzle, it's wonderful. I love this tonal range! I'm not a detuned chugga chugga type guy so this tonal range for me is wonderful. With a high tech architecture that can rearrange and omit gain stages, tone stacks, etc, and the 800 power section, it can give an eerily similar sound to many legendary Marshall amps. It does so much very, very well that for the $1100 to $1300ish they now command used, it's a laughably good deal. Now, does it have the same level of construction and materials as my Ecstacy...no, but of course a pre-owned Ecstacy is $2500-$2700 for a decent one, way more money. The Ecstacy can do things the JVM can't do, but the JVM can do things the Ecstacy can't do! The Ecstacy is amazing, probably the greatest amp ever built, but it can't do the "Marshall Sizzle" like the 410. The 410 is pure Marshall sizzle, which is why I love it too. Don't misunderstand, the JVM is built well and looks like quality in its own right. People would really be shocked how well the JVM can do nearly any amp Marshall ever made. The levels of gain this thing has is shocking! It just has 12 channels that go from beautiful full clean thru to face melter, but always classy and tasteful. Many YT clips comparing the regular JVM to vintage Plexis, 800s, and even JTM45s, and it's eerie how close it can be dialed in to mimic those amps. For $1200ish today on the used market, the regular JVM410H is a monstrous amp that sounds terrific and does so much well it's amazing.
Check out Rabea's JVM410 review, it will blow you away. Killer amp for little money.
