Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Mr 9finger

Digitally Challenged
Hey Guys and Gals,

Rick from KGC and I have traded emails and he's up for letting some people here try out his products. We have to keep in mind here that KGC is a small business ran by a couple guys and most of the offerings are made to order, so they can't really ship out a large quantity of blocks.

There's probably only going to be 3 or 4, whatever he decides. My thinking is have a Mexican Strat sized block, a vintage size block, and a oversize Floyd block and whatever else. Maybe an American Standard size block. I'm the odd man out being left handed here, so we'll toss them out to the right handed players for testing. I'd like to get some people involved for each block that's sent out. To make that work, each person is going to have to agree to get the block, try it out for a week or so, write up a review of your impressions on it, and then send it on to the next person so they can do the same.

Obviously we can't have a large number of people for each block. Then it would just take forever and a major pain in the butt for me to keep track of, so I think 5 people per block would be great. To make things easier on Rick, I'm going to have him ship the blocks to me and I'll ship them out to everyone else to get things started. Once everyone has had their turn with block, they'll get sent back to me.

If Rick is on board with letting us keep the blocks, then we'll have some kind of lottery drawing for the people that reviewed the block a chance to win and keep the block they reviewed. That is fairest way I can think of doing things. Ideally, everyone would get a block to keep, but like I mentioned earlier. They are a small new company and don't have the resources to give a bunch of blocks away.

Now that that is all out of the way, I'm going to have to put some stipulations on this. To be eligible to be involved with this, you have to be a member in good standing. Some people are going to cry and say that's not fair, but lets be reasonable here. If you've been a member for awhile and you're an active member, then there's less likely of a chance of you just up and disappearing. That and most of the guys here wouldn't want to tarnish their reputation here over a $70 piece of metal.

I already know someone is going to ask about shipping across the border to the north and across the pond. Normally I don't have a problem shipping out of the country, but due to the nature of review process and the higher possibility of something getting lost or damaged in shipping out of the country, I'm going to have to keep this in the lower U.S.

So.....If you're interested in getting in on this and you meet the criteria, send me a PM and we'll get things started. In the mean time I'll get with Rick and see how he wants to do things and I'll give him a link to this thread.

I'd also like to thank Rick and company at Killer Guitar Components for giving us this opportunity!

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Just as a side note for everyone. If 1 or all of the categories draw a lot of interest, I'll draw names for the people that get to do the reviews.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

I probably haven't been around long enough to qualify. Ah well. Very cool of Mr. Rick and you to do this! Are these just oversized blocks or are they brass or another material?

You've been here over a year and have more posts than I do bro. I'd say that makes you above average lol. Those stipulations are mainly to keep people from joining up just to do it or people that we as we don't really "know" just to eliminate some of the possibility of people running off with the goods.

If you're interested, toss your name in man!

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

I'd do it but Idk if I'd notice the subtleties that come with a block change, and I KNOW I haven't been here long enough.. Hopefully I'll get to read some good reviews and buy one to try myself.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Can they do custom Floyd-style baseplates i.e. hardened steel?

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

I have an American Standard (1996) Stratocaster that I'd be willing to test it out on.

I know bridges, and reviewing.

If the 2-point American Standard bridge is one of the options, I'm willing to review it.

I'd be interested in the Floyd block. And I can promise to include sound clip comparisons.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Hey Guys! Rick from KGC here. I am really excited at the level of interest in doing this from all of you. Hopefully we can get a solid 5 people to try each block and review their thoughts on the differences between our block and what you may be using currently. I think each of you will be pleasantly surprised at how much of a change you will feel and hear.

If any of you have any questions about our products or about bridges in general, please do not hesitate to contact me directly via PM on here or email rick@killerguitarcomponents.com. I am available 7 days a week to service you guys.

Also, please check out our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Killer-Guitar-Components/79290403339

We run some sort of promotion just about every Friday for the weekend and it is always posted on our FB.

Again, thanks to all of you who are volunteering to try and review our products. I am really excited to have you all helping to spread the word about KGC! Have a great weekend everyone!

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Just a couple things before I take off for the night. Going to a concert so I won't be back until late tonight. I'll try and get everyone replied to and added to the lists after that.

Also, and this isn't mandatory, but I know a lot of you guys have the ability to sound clips or demos via Youtube. This would be really cool and helpful to others. I'd think just straight into the amp a quick clean and dirty demo. Like I said, it's not mandatory and won't hurt chances of getting in on this. ex-250 mentioned doing some clips and I thought it would be cool if we could get at least 1 person from each group to a sound demo.

I just sent Rick my mailing address and he's going to let me know when the blocks are being shipped out. If anyone has any really pressing questions that they just can't wait to have answered, my email for my phone is fkncrazy @ gmail . com and I'll answer them if I see them lol!

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

I've got an american standard trem on a Heartfield RR I'd be happy to test on.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

I got a Chavel with a Schaller /Floyd Rose would that count?
If it will block the tremelo from moving I would love that

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

I appreciate that! But I thought about it and I'd rather it go to someone who can review it properly with a video or clips. I can't do either atm. Besides, I don't want it to make my guitars sound too good; I couldn't afford it!

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

It would be nice to try the fat XL blocks that rest on the wood.
