Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Rick,

Very cool of you to get onboard with this! I look forward to either testing or hearing about your blocks! I need a few more...

9finger,
I could also test a block for a import Lic floyd if thats avail.. I cant do clips at this time, but Ill do what I do when I change pickups. Make my kids all suffer thru and till me what they like better and why.. .haha

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Got everybody in so far. Still waiting on a couple measurements for a few people.

Clips aren't necessary guys. Was just throwing that out there if someone wanted to do them if they have the equipment to do so.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Looks like we need some more volunteers here. Especially for the Vintage and MIM Strat blocks. Get in on this now - you may have a chance to keep the block permanently! After the testing is done, we will be selecting one of the testers for each block to keep it. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

I have a mutt Strat with a Moses Graphite neck and vintage trem and need a new block. The string ball ends hang in the block and I have to punch them out from the top when I restring now. PM sent.

Got you added in bro. Did you not get my reply to your PM?

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

I've got a MIM-bodied partsocaster that's had a Callaham block in it for a few years now. I'd be up for testing one of these guys and writing up a quick review, although I don't really have any recording gear here at home.

Clips would be cool, but aren't really necessary. I think most everyone here has the ability to translate what they're hearing into words. I'm not to sure anyone would be able to hear the differences on a youtube vid anyway.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Hmm...interesting stuff here. I'd like to try out a Floyd block, if possible.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

I've got a MIM Strat that I wouldn't mind messing with.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to give you all a heads up that I am sending out the blocks for demo to 9Finger today! I am really excited to get all of your opinions!

Looks like we need some more tester/reviewers for the Vintage blocks! Who is in?? We need a few more participants here. C'mon people! Get your chance to t least try a KGC Brass Tremolo Block and maybe you will get to keep it for free!

Thanks to all who have signed up to this point.

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Thank you - I'm always glad to help small businesses that are trying to carve their way. Especially music related companies!

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

what exactly would be involved in installing it? ... is it a whole new bridge assembly? or just a trem blocker?

school me and i'll decide if i can meaningfully play with my EJ sig strat in this review process
thanks

It is a Brass Alloy Tremolo Block - the block that attaches to the bottom side of your bridge plate and holds the springs on the other side.

In order to install a KGC block you will need to remove the springs and saddles from your bridge, take off the old block and re-install the new block, the springs and saddles - strings too (obviously). It is slightly more complicated than I make it sound here, I guess, but that is the basics of installation. We will include detailed installation instructions with each block that can be passed on from one tester to another. You can also feel free to contact me any time for tips and tricks on install.

It's just the block, if I am not mistaken.

For a Strat, you

unscrew the old block,
screw on the new block,
throw it back in,

and that's all there is to it.

Pretty much! I've done it without even taking the whole bridge out of the guitar before. Just remove the saddles. Unscrew the old block. Screw the new block on. Put the saddles back on, restring, intonate....rock the f... out!

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Since Rick said he's shipping out soon, as soon as I get the blocks here, I'll be PMing everybody that's first on the list to get addresses!

Re: Killer Guitar Components Trem block BETA testing.

Looks interesting to me. I'm not a fan of my standard trem bridge and would have blocked it a LOOOOONG time ago if I'd known how to do it.

Hellion,

Please keep in mind that these tremolo blocks are not made to "block" your tremolo. They are direct replacements for your original, crappy zinc or pot steel block. It is a significant upgrade in resonance, tone and sustain.

We do offer the Tremol-No system on our website which is an adjustable trem blocker. It allows you to lock or unlock your trem and set it however you like. The pin type is the one that will work with a KGC trem block. Here is a link if you are interested in one...
