Kinmans vs. Antiquitys vs. Lace Sensors !!!

So I'm putting 3 different single coil pickups in my Stratocaster, I've decided... and I've been looking around for pickups for quite a few days (non-stop!) now. I've basically weeded it down to the Kinman 69's vs. Antiquitys vs. Lace Sensor Silvers.

While I know the first two are very expensive, they seem to be worth the money (the Kinmans sounded FANTASTIC). I have no experience with Lace Sensors and can't find any soundclips of them online, but I'm somewhat interested in them.

When aiming for a Gilmour/Blackmore/Hendrixy tone, can anything beat what I have listed, for a more reasonable price?

Either way I'm really put off by the price of pickups like Kinmans, regardless of the sound ... I think maybe I should just do something really strange (like an angled humbucker in the bridge, a single coil in the middle, a P90 in the neck and a boatload of switches) instead sometimes. :smack:

OK, i have the kinman's 69 set and they sound better then any other strat pickups i've heard or tried and will play hendrix and all. I've never played the ants but i've heard them and i still liked the kinmans better. The lace sensors are ALRIGHT they have a sort of unnatural sound to them i just dont like them period. Go for the Kinmans there silent and sound just like single coils but better.

I haven't tried the Kinmns myself, but I've heard nothing but praise for them. I hear the Ant. I's in my friends strat and they have a very good strat sound. If you play styles that require an authentic old strat sound, the Antiquities are hard to beat.

As far as the Lace's go, if you plug into a lot of digital gear, they work nicely, if you plug straightinto a good tube amp, you might find them lacking.

Well I don't have a lot of digital gear...or a tube amp...so.....

lol

ive never played either but ive never heard anything good said about the lace sensors (and there were a lot of ppl who reviewed them)

The Sensors range anywhere from disappointing to fantastic. The best sensor models are the Hot Golds and the Holy Grails. Here's a sound clip of a 6k Hot Gold bridge. It wasn't recorded by me, but it'll give you an idea of what the pickup can do.

I love them.
I have no guitars with them in them...

The stock Peavy hummers in my USA Limited were perfect, as are my USA Jazzmaster and my Ibanes Universe....

If I ever get that ESP Mana Signature model I;ve been lusting after for years i'd lose the EMG and throw a Dually in there.

Shielded pickups always take some of the tone away IMO, sometimes recording it is hard to tell ( GRANTED ) but to me, it's more in the Feel, if I am playing a noiseless pickup set, then move on to true single's, it's like my playing gets a boost, they feel better under the fingers, true single have much nicer attack as well, noiseless can sometimes feel a little more delayed, and I have tried them all, Kinman Blues, Lace censor gold ( which I still have on my strat plus ) but the true singles feel more lively, and make me want to play hard

You really need to add DiMarzio Areas to that list. I was a Kinman user for years (still use woodstocks in some guitars) and the Areas sound just as good, have a broader range of tone in the different models, and the '58/'67 sound more vintage authentic.
