Krank owners

Hello all,
I have had the Revolution 1 since 2006. I think it's one of the very best sounding amps for metal and yet I can also have a fender like clean channel. I can dial in a nice 80's style metal tone to death metal.

Krank released a few years ago the newer Revolution 1+ model and I have never played it as no one around here has one in stock. It's a problem with the local Shops around here.

My question is if anyone has upgraded to the +? Is it better then the original ? The effects loop alone sounds like a worth while upgrade.

I don't really care for the krankenstein as I found the clean channel to gritty for my taste. I also don't care for the over saturated gain channel as it's just to over the top and sizzle for me. I like the crunchier sound of the Revolution.

Re: Krank owners

I havent tried the revolution as such but the krankenstein and rev circuits are incredibly similar in fact there are DIP switches inside the krankenstein to swap between the two.

Is the rev1+ the same as the krankenstein+ and just has a beefier PT, JCM800 spec OT & KT88s?

Re: Krank owners

The Rev has lower gain in general

I have a Krankenstein Jr 50w an i ****in love it. I also dont turn thr gain past 2 or 3. I agree that it has boat loads of gain that grts waaaaay out of hand, but hey just Krank those Sovtek KT88 and man does it sound good

Re: Krank owners

From what I have read , Krank is out of business. So getting a new amp from is not an option now unless I find a Revolution 1+ and really like it over all other options. Honestly I'm not really into buying new gear that the company went out of business. What if something goes wrong and it needs repair?

It's a shame as today so many companies are struggling or went out of business. We all needs to spend a bit to get the ball rolling again. Everyone wants everything today for the cheapest possible price. Understandable but in the long run it's hurting us.

I have a rev +. I love it but i heard people say the older version of the krank heads were better. If you're looking to buy a krank rev+ i would pull the trigger and buy it now. They're marked down everywhere now since krank went out of business. If something goes wrong with them apparently they are honoring all warrantys through kinetico water supply.
