krank

Re: krank

ive been looking on HC but the majority of people there seem to be @$$holes. its getting annoying. all they do is complain over dumb stuff.

Re: krank

I checked 'em out at NAMM last year. They somehow managed to combine the things I don't like about Marshall with the things I don't like about Mesa.

Re: krank

Krank amps are absolute ****, IMO...also, their business practices are less than admirable...they were posting all sorts of hype messages on the harmony-central boards, and then when called out on it, denied it. they also flooded the Krank page on the reviews section with fake reviews of how amazing they were and how they killed Mesa, Bogner, Diesel, etc. in terms of quality and tone, etc. as such, there is no longer a Krank review page on harmony-central.

tonally....i played the Chadwick and Revolution heads, and was completely unimpressed, i could not get a single tone i really liked out of them, and found it far too easy to get crappy tones.

Re: krank

I played on one a few months ago. It made me mad that it made me sound like today no matter what guitar I played through it. :smack: lol XD Its too directed towards popular music. I'll stick with my Hiwatts thank you very much

Re: krank

They are what they are.....a well made amp, specifically designed for metal/nu-metal.
I checked out the Revolution 100 in depth with 2 Les Pauls, a McCarty, and a Tele.
The Kleen channel sounded like a high wattage Peavey Classic or Twin type of sound, since it has 4 6L6's. The gain channel didn't offer much in the way of organic midgain tones at all, but really excelled at the 'crunch of doom' type sound.
One thing that keeps it below Bogner, VHT, Engl, in terms of tonal quality is that the notes don't have much of a compressed sustaining quality.....it's much more wide open sounding, which means the notes drop off a bit quicker. It's also a $1300 amp, not a $2000+ amp. It's a good crunchy metal vibe amp, and it's unfortunate about what happened to them on harmony. I think most companies insert favorable reviews, they just don't get caught. I think the Krank sits in between a Peavey XXX and a Mesa Dual Rec, sitting a little closer to the Mesa in tone and quality.

Re: krank

Gearjoneser, we're not just talking about favorable reviews here....we're talking completely ridiculously over the top stuff, that just seems completely unprofessional, much like their original website was. it was also blatantly obvious that the reviews in question were plants.

oh, also check your pickguard thread in the trading post!

Re: krank

I think if Krank amps were good enough for Dime, they're good enough for me.. I just can't wait to try one out.

And now we know why artist endorsements work....

Re: krank

I kinda feel bad for the Krank company, because they did come out of the gate with the best of intentions....to build a high quality metal amp that's stripped of features, but has two very useable channels. Even the guitarist for Deftones sunk all his money into the company, I've heard, in order to launch them and make a good investment for himself. Then, all of a sudden, they had a harmony-central scandal on their hands, and it hurt the reputation of this new company badly. It's possible that they had some of their own staff write killer reviews, but maybe they just did it very blatantly and got caught. I think EVERY company plants their own reviews or rebutts any bad ones that sway people the wrong way. Just a bad situation all around.
The Krank amp is the perfect amp for a guy like Dime, Deftones, and other super heavy bands. They don't suck, but you won't see me selling my Bogner to get one either.

Re: krank

Guitar One I believe, gave a pretty impressive review. I was interested, but have changed my mind mainly for the lack of versatility I interpreting.
So hard to pick the ideal amp when you cant play them all.

Guitar One would give an amp with two broken knobs and a blown speaker an impressive review....
