the recording isn't that great (ya probably need to turn it up), and i'm in a lot of pain (major dental work) so i kind of just rushed through the whole thing sloppily because i promised i would post tonight. so if you can forgive that, proceed to enjoy the great sounds of hte laney tt50 combo.

the little chord progression was from a song a made a long time ago. :boggled: nothing special just trying to give you a tone sample. there's a real british kind of flavor and it sounds real marshally to me. that's what i think, but i'd like to hear what you guys think.

hopefully this clip represents in a humble way how great the lany amps are.

That was very helpful, thank you!

I like the crunch, exactly that kind of thing I am looking for. I am not entirely convinced with the clean, they have some nice warmth to them though.

The distortion sounded really good (And at the end I was starting to dig your chord progression :D:D)

I have some questions though:
What guitar did you use, what pickups?
Is the modern switch that subtle in real life, I thought it would do more differance.
Are you using much reverb?

It was really helpful, as said, the laney definitely has the character I am looking for. However you did not demostrate the tightness of the amp. If it isnt too much to ask for, could you record some fast palmmuted riffs. You dont have to make it that long, and no need to hurry. I am still in the money collecting stage, take your time.

Nevertheless thank you for this (and I am heavily leaning to the laney!)

What was interesting to me is comparing this to the Genz Benz El Diablo clip you also posted. From a player's standpoint the El Diablo seems to lack some mids and brightness that the Laney has to spare. But just from a listener's standpoint I far prefer the tone of the Genz Benz. It just seems so much more authoritative and "in charge" to my ears. Which is your favorite and why?

That's a Strat you're playing in each clip and as I recall you said your Strats are all MIA. What pickups? Are they the SCN pickups?

i'll see what i can do. i just had an infected molar pulled so i wasn't in any shape to record stuff, but i did want to deliver as promised. to me this is a pretty tight amp. i'd have to say that it's a little tighter than the marshall jvm and dsl 100 i had before. maybe it's something more comprable to orange amps, but i don't know that for sure as i have only played one orange. i heard a guy play one several times though and it sounded very tight to me.

compared to the mesa 5:50, it's tighter IMO. if you ever heard or played a traynore ycv50 blue, then that's the kind of tightness you can expect from this amp. in my opinion, it's tight engough for anything.

another cool thing about that amp is how it works with pedals. i recorded some overdrive pedals with it too last night, so i'll post those.

on another note, the clean channel is super. i'm not much of a clean player at all, so i don't think i can represent its clean sound appropriately enough. i can tell you though that the cleans on this amp are superb. i just don't know how to dial in great clean tones - i struggle enough with overdriven tones for that matter :grumble:

it's a great amp and worth every penny. just think of it as a marshall that's more articulate and with better cleans.

yes, that's a good description of the el diablo i believe. it does sound much bolder. the lany sounds sweeter, but to me they both sound very good for entirely different situations.

neither is my favorite at this point. i'm still trying to find "MY" tone. as far as the guitar, it's a USA strat with dimarzio virtual vintage solo pickups. in the bridge is a virtual vintage and in the neck and middle are virtual vintage solo pros.

Okay I´ll take your word for it, thank you!
Did you try out the TT head? I can get the head and a good 2x12 for the same price as a combo, would be fun to own a head.

sounds cool, but i hooked my combo up to a marshall 2x12 and it sounded awesome

I think it would be cool to do my own cab, I dont know how hard it would be and if I would be able to make it sound any good... It is definently an option

Re: Laney TT50 Sound Clips As Requested

I really like the sound of that amp. For my ears, ( and likes) the 70s hard rock thing seems to be there in spades. Articulate, warm and has a nice open character. Laney just keeps building the goods.....

Re: Laney TT50 Sound Clips As Requested

didn't you post a laney clip some time back? which amp was that? i liked that little lick you threw in at the end.

Re: Laney TT50 Sound Clips As Requested

Yeah, I did. I have an AOR 100. Great head after it gets a couple tweaks to warm it up.
