Re: Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster VS American Special Mahogany Stratocaster

which tremolo is better?

HSS Strat. The LSR nut's propensity to not bind / allow anything from 8-38 to 12-56 witout refretting, and the american deluxe saddles with the low-angle cuts mean you won't bind / go out of tune.

I say JM, because A) it's going to be collectible, worth 100 million dollars one day, and B) Wide Rangers are awesome, C) it looks better than a Strat, and D) having something different is so cool

The american special was supposed to be a limited run of about 1000 or so, problem is they've proven popular beyond Fender's wildest dreams and GC loves to keep one in stock for the person who wants everything from SRV to AC/DC in one strat. I love my american Special HSS and it's an early run (neck says Feb 12, 2007 on it).

Re: Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster VS American Special Mahogany Stratocaster

thats what i heard.

im actually interested in the wide ranges.

Yeah, these wide ranges are much better than the ones Fender has been producing on the Tele Customs. They are re-makes of the 70's originals. Bloody great pickups. Glassier and clearer than most humbuckers. I'm givng myself GAS for that thing, really badly.

lee ranaldo jazz is winning.

the nut on the strat looks badass though. :D

Re: Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster VS American Special Mahogany Stratocaster

So put an LSR on the Jazzmaster.

^ this guy is a problem solver.

all the Jazzmaster is missing is MAYBE a push-pull to split the buckers...and if they really sound 'clear and glassy' like Rich T says then single coil mode is probably unnecessary.

you'd get a similar look and feel to your Jag but MUCH better build quality, hardware, pickups, finish, etc...and it would be more of a straight-up rock guitar, whereas your Jag is still on-hand for crazy switching fun times.

Fender uses better woods for their Artist guitars than they do for their production-level American guitars.

Jazzmasters are cooler than Strats

Blue is cooler than red

C'mon man this is easy stuff

I don't know if you even need to do that. Just get the nut cut and dressed properly and you won't need any of that voodoo roller madness.

the website says 're-voiced to original vintage spec'; are they definitely proper wide-ranges or are they just re-issues that aren't interchangable with other humbuckers without modifying or changing your pickguard due to the mounting holes?
if you like it's the pickups go the jazzmaster, no doubt. both the sonic youth JMs are sexy guitars

They are a lot closer to the originals than the ones Fender put in the Mexican Tele Deluxes.
