Re: "Les paul' decisions. Other herd thinning help needed..

Probably a C
C usually stands for Cutaway
E is usually for electronics. (Acoustic/electric).

Of course if you’re isn’t a cutaway....then disregard...lol

I looked it up and there are listings for both OE and CE

Got no idea what the difference would be

But I would think you're right C for cutaway
And O for a size body, maybe?

I know this is tough, but you need to sell EVERYTHING that can bring in good and any money to handle your situation. I don't want to sound like I'm lecturing but you need to hear it that way. You're a grown man, and you need to look at it like one. What is more important? Getting rid of the bills that need to be dealt with or the stuff? I would say your bills. It'll relieve stress from your wife, your marriage and your family. Keep one guitar, one amp, maybe an overdrive pedal. Sell the rest! Yes, ALL of it. The Gibsons, the Deans, the Charvels, the Epiphones, the Squiers. Then move on to the amps, cabinets and whatever else. Do the right thing for the long run. Sell so much stuff the kids think they're next.

Yes, it's hard to let some stuff go. But at this juncture, I don't think there's much of a choice. Good luck! You can do it!

Re: "Les paul' decisions. Other herd thinning help needed..

Interesting advice coming from a gibson player.. It will be easier to sell the LES Paul then to part with the explorer

It will be easier to sell, better ROI, and easier to replace and every other easy/better you can think of.

And While I have a crap-ton of Deans, I am not a Dean fanboy. They are cheap sexy and work for my current band. Otherwise I'd have like one....But the one you have sounds special.

Hey Bro! Not that you were concerned with offending me or anything, but I know you are right.. I have been down this road a few times and thats why I whine.. hahaha
I got married, I had a Motocross bike, a couple of nice guitars, an amp, a 79 trans Am.. I rolled it all (lost all the gear to pawn for a song), to provide for the fam. And have continued to give things up for years... So, I do man up.. And I know now, I have more crap than I need and am worthy off... ( Since Im still a novice player and its not like Im a gigging musician (damn I wish I was..) and need it for my living.. As I said, just whining.. Ive sold so many cool pieces over the years... Most notably was my one of a kind Washburn WM526 that was a one of a kind finish.. But, I know what needs done. Worst thing is, some Ive sold, I had to sell in a rush and let go with special pickups cuz I didnt have time to change em. Duncan Alt8, Crazy 8 and some other special runs.
Anyhow, thanks again all for the input! And reality check. Im hoping I can purge enough stuff down to pay off the credit accts I have, and hopefully contribute to the household for a bit..

Re: "Les paul' decisions. Other herd thinning help needed..

Sorry to hear you're having to purge. If it were my choice to make; I'd for sure try and keep the Gibson LP Trad Pro and Charvel Red USA Custom. Although they would sell most quickly; they'd probably be the ones that haunt you after they're gone.

Re: "Les paul' decisions. Other herd thinning help needed..

Believe me, no matter which ones you get rid of, you will be haunted (been there, done that). You just have to deal with that and don't let that influence your decision because that is totally emotional and if you let emotion overpower your rational thought you won't sell anything.

This is a time for purely rational, conscious, calculated, realistic decisions.

You'll be alright. I totally sucks having to do it but the light at the other end is brighter than what's there now. My wife and I are paying off debt. I've added in to my gear only what I need, with the exception of a killer deal on another OD-3 to put aside. But yeah, massive purge a few years ago, and not just guitar gear. Now we need a new AC unit and hoping to cash flow that.

The only reason I kept my Dean ML is because my wife got it for me not long before we really dove in to kill the debt, otherwise it would've seen the chopping block.

Hang in there.
