Les Paul neck pickup for "fluid" tone?

Re: Les Paul neck pickup for "fluid" tone?

I bet the Liquifire would also pair well with the Custom 8 too.

Joining in on this conversation late; however, I think the Liquifire pairs best with a Screamin Demon. Love the combo–had it in an Iceman as well as currently in a Strat.

Cool. Thanks!

Most welcome man! It's not a traditional setup by any means and you are mixing brands so you have to make sure you lookup the SD and DMZ wiring but IMO they make a perfect match–super smooth neck pickup with a bridge pickup capable of smooth to soaring lead tones...I think the name "Screamin Demon" gives people the wrong impression (kinda like the Dimebucker)

Re: Les Paul neck pickup for "fluid" tone?

I ask because I'm pairing a Screamin' Demon with a Full Shred Neck and they are a perfect match.

Output differences are more acceptable under gain, but I'm a bit worried they'll be problematic for cleans. While I usually never use the bridge pickup by itself for cleans, I do combine the two and would hate for the neck to always dominate.

Ignore the terrible playing, this is the Screamin Demon, Lil Screamin Demon, Liquifire combo straight into Garage band on a clean amp.

Granted, this is a Strat with a Basswood body and a Roasted Maple+Rosewood Neck using a Wilkinson Tremolo...so a Les Paul setup would be more full and warmer IMO.

EDIT: I apologize but I don't have any recordings of the Iceman where it was was just he Screamin Demon+Liquifire, so Bridge+Neck clips.

Re: Les Paul neck pickup for "fluid" tone?

Mine's an HH, so I'd need to hear the Iceman.

I've combined a LiquiFire with a 500T where there was an option to run either in series or parallel. Instead of both in parallel mode combined in parallel, the inner coils of each are combined in parallel. These two pickups work so amazingly well together, that I can't imagine how a considerably lower output bridge pickup (Demon vs 500T) will fare as well.

The Iceman is now with Forum Bro Artietoo and has different pickups in it ;)

Re: Les Paul neck pickup for "fluid" tone?

I'm sure I could drop the height, but neck leads would be compromised.

My next trick is to do what LazNovak did: put fillisters in the inner coil of the Full Shred. I also plan on putting longer hex screws in the inner coil of the Demon, provided those supplied by Addiction-FX are the same diameter and material as those used by SD. I sent a message to him on eBay two days ago but haven't yet gotten a response.
