Re: Les Paul through Marshall

The LP/Marshall thing is pretty much the tone i want. Well British marshally tone is really what i want, not so much the LP

Re: Les Paul through Marshall

The gibson -> marshall tone is nice, there's no denying that. But it's not my tone :)

Re: Les Paul through Marshall

Yes. All my favourite guitar tones were produced with a LP-type axe or a Marshall, or the combination of course.

Re: Les Paul through Marshall

While I have a LP and a Marshall and the tone is amazing, nothing touches my LP through my Mesa rack.

And yes I own superstrats........

Is it the best combo EVER? Whether I'm listening to Adrian Smith, Slash, Zakk Wylde, Billy Gibbons, Ace Frehley, Peter Frampton, or even Justin Hawkins, this setup just sounds the best of anything ever I think. Do you agree?

Early Zakk Wylde tone......

Billy Gibbons tone also comes from Strats, fuzz boxes, and custom amps.

Justin Hawkins uses a Dual Rectifier.

Re: Les Paul through Marshall

I think its a pretty Magical tone no question. But I would also say if the Amp and guitar are of vintage quality (Plexi and PAF's) it is a pretty hard combo to beat. I also like Fender Amps as well and finding those tones (MArshall and Fender) in one Amp would be really nice to have. Strat, LP 335 Tele, thru those Amps :) :)

Re: Les Paul through Marshall

What LP and through what Marshall? There are a lot of possible combinations and not all of them are going to make my ears happy. I will agree, though, that there are some very tasty LP/Marshall combos out there.

Also, FWIW, I actually prefer my TB-12 loaded fat strat through my marshall over my JB loaded LP. ;)

Thas cos you got a JB in it :) Try an SH5 and get back to me :D

Re: Les Paul through Marshall

I'd say yes... but I also had to say that I am a big slash fan and that I didn't try loads of amps so far, So I still could discover something that feels better. Until that, Gibson through Marshall all along !!! :arms: :bigok: :arms:

Flying V -------> Matamp. LP/Marshall sound on steroids.

Re: Les Paul through Marshall

Bolt-on guitars made of alder, mahagony or plywood into Fenders, Peaveys, Soldanos ore Mesas...............I'm flexible.

Re: Les Paul through Marshall

I love the tone of the Les Paul/Marshall but for myself, I prefer the sound and clarity of a Strat or Tele through a Fender or Boogie. For heavy Rock the L.P / Marshall is pretty much the industry standard....Joe

Re: Les Paul through Marshall

daniel hawkens did the lp through the marshall and he now has a mattamp also for leads i believe.

justing did the lp through the mesa and for a while he was using a boss superdistortion through a mashall jcm 800 212 combo for leads. so techincally it was an lp through a marshall.
