Fortunately for me, pouring rain can't stop UPS either.
My new Eminence Wizard arrived today, and after an anxious few minutes of fumbling with screws and trying not to beat up the old Governor, a new Wizard went in with another old Governor. I fired up the new combination in the 2x12, and what a difference a speaker makes. It's not broken in yet, but it still sounds good.
The first impression I got is what a fullness was available in the cabinet now. The bass REALLY filled out, and the brightness of the Governor pair really was tamed. The mids were much more manageable now, and the top end was much less harsh. Cleans were nice, but overdrive was really brilliant. I feel like there's some combination of hi-fi and smoothness while still allowing raunch through. I'm really surprised that one speaker made such a difference.
Admittedly, this is still the honeymoon period, and the speaker has not yet broken in, but it's a welcome change. The most notable difference is that the punchiness of the mids isn't the only thing I'm hearing.
