Let's REVIEW those pedal boards you are using right now.

It's late and I'm tired, but I'll burn you a quick one....

+1 points just for losing that crappy @$$ bag. Nice solid legit board! - I still have the bag for my Roland GR-33
+1 BBE Freq Boost. BBE is sooo underrated. - That is really a sleeper pedal. I always find myself coming back to it.
+3 Liverpool. Unique choice - base sound I assume. - That is my gain tone around 75% of the time
+2 for Dracarys (lost one becsause it is a "hot" item) - I use this for our more metal forward and shreddy songs.
+5 Dirt Clod (you are always styling on the rare earth) - I used this more with my 2nd band to get TS8 and MXR D+ tones
+2 on the Flanger Chorus. I'd have arranged the other way, but it doesn't matter. Bonus point is for both swirls in shades of purple. - The CS9 is for our VH stuff, the BF2 is typically used sparingly to swirl up the end of a phrase.
+0 on the CC - You are a hater the CC is an awesome delay yes I know everyone has one. There is a reason for that.
+0 on the MF delay. Expensive, lacks sex appeal, so -1. But - it does have a drive control, so +1 - The MF is used as a boost, the delay MIX is set very subtle and the DRIVE is pushed forward.

H9 is in style anywhere anytime. I like the delays and fancy pedal on the first row. I on/off delay a lot. - H9 is my saving grace, that pedal is my everything especially, rotary, trippy delays, and pitch shift to fatten leads.
+1 on matching connections

I like the little round with. Looks like on the board, but could be moved. - That controls the CHORUS in the JC - 120 perfect on Purple Rain.
Nice blue power underneath - Not by design just a happy accident.
Pedals in the correct place.
No points off or on for the Talk Box - it goes next to the Mic

-1 general board dirt - That is hair from my long lost dog it is not coming off the board ever.
-1 for H9/CC/MF not lined up even. - They are placed for maximum contact with the velcro.

13 pts. A lot of win. I'd rock it. The carpet is really busy and takes away from the presentation. Make it 12pts. - Why are you so focused on people's carpets? We have a jam room we take what we can get.

Gig on, sir, gig on!

The MF is a great pedal in my unqualified, unworthy and unrequested opinion.

I have considered the dirt clod many times but it’s hard to try or hear one. Could you elaborate a bit more about it?

It sounds like a lot of the classic Distortion/Overdrive pedals that is the beauty of it. They are blowing them out for $99 on Decibel 11's site right now, I strongly suggest grabbing one. Something tells me they are going to be discontinued soon. Below is a review I did on the pedal that should tell you pretty much everything you need to know.

That’s great! Thanks for sharing the review.

Bringing this one back just to aggravate Ace with my pedals that hang over the sides.

board is going to 3 amps.

Korg pitchblack & Dunlop 535Q start the chain before the first A/B pedal. TS9 goes into the DSL with the Carbon Copy in the Loop, Outlaw widow maker goes into a Micro Dark, and everything else is in front of a "JCM800 modded" Jet City 20 with the Vapor Trail in the loop. Ditto is in the output to the Orange/Jet City

If you really wanted to get him going, you would have included some feet.

I love it. The first question I ask myself when I look at someone's board is, "could I rock it?" I could definitely rock that board. Could it be a bit neater? Definitely. Is it worthy of ridicule and scorn? Definitely not; it is a rocking setup.

No hate. You do you. Ok, you do Eric Johnson, if that's what you want to do.

Did I review this?

One aggravated Ace, coming up. Sorry for the delay, had a gig...

All right....out of the gate; Do NOT tell me those pedals don't arrange on the board without overhang. It is sloppy, unprofessional, and plain dangerous. One "too much push" and a pedal falls off, cables / connectors bent...just disaster.

Tuner above Wah - horrible egos. You could accidentally toe-on the wah, when tuning.

I do like the Whirlwind selector. Can't speak to the MXR A/B - I do like that two different ones for easy selection/identification.

Cool routing. Guit>OD>Amp then delay in loop. Nice. Again...the EJ-esque kind of deal. Pretty cool.

Seriously though, right to left

Row 1: Tuner Wah, Marshal Channel, MXR, Whirlwind. It will fit.

Row 2: Widow above the tuner beside Wah (I'm assuming OD's are generally on always), [wah]. Carbon Copy, Vapor trail, MXR and TS9 OD's

Row 3 EVH OD, and the Ditto.

Get all matching connectors, and bundles up that batch of cables to the amps in a half-snake, just to get it away from the board clean.

I've yet to throw my board onto the chopping block. Here you go Ace, a fresh signal chain to critique.

Guitar > SD Boost > Joyo Comp > Soul Food > OCD > SD Catalina > Small Stone > Axle Grease > TU-3 > Amp

All right. Here we go - sans coffee. Deal with it.

Duncan V1 Pickup Booster. Nice. But why TF are you running it into the compressor? Switch those pedals right now dammit.

Joyo Compressor? Good god man, have some self esteem. Of all the pedals to cheap on,. and compressor is NOT it.

EHX Soul Food. Good choice for "no one needs a real Klon"

Channel switching at the other end. I like Amp channel switchers on the board. And of course, Mesa - so style points there.

Looks like Soul Food to OCD. If you were really OCD you'd put it on the front row with the rest of the boosts. In the right damn order: Booster > Soul Food > OCD

Catalina Chorus looks next. No idea why anyone needs a "dynamic" chorus, but I like it because it has a delay knob on it. So few appreciate what that does for a chorus.

Catalina to Small Stone - No hate on the Stone. Just not my thing.

Next up, Garage Tone Delay. I bet you think I'm gonna hate on that, don't you? Call it cheap trash like that Joyo compressor? Well, you would be wrong!
- First of all, made by Visual Sound (People who made the Route 66 Compressor, which is what you should have!)
- Second, series co-designed with R.G. Keene (Don't know who he is? https://thejhsshow.com/articles/visual-sounds-garagetone-series)
- Third, knobs are FAR apart and EASY to adjust on the fly!
I have had one of these on a board as my "on the fly" delay (and AIn't Talking' Bout Love slap) quite a while. It sounds really good, even while not technically analog. Well played!

I much prefer my tuner at the front (pure signal, mute, etc) But I can see it at the end too. And TU3 - classic (enough).

MXR power brick. Cool.

What I'm wondering is that the hell happened with the back rows? The front is super tidy. The back field is just kind of pedals sitting on blankets in the outfield.
- Put the Catalina back where the OCD is
- Even up the swirl and delay
- Did I mention get a real compressor?
- Figure out how to fix the overhang. Easily enough real estate to fix that - unless you don't tune?!?!?!

All in all, I will say
- Duncan pedal pair, FUlltone
- EHX pair
- Boss/MXR
- Joyo/Garage

This does have a nice range of budget to high quality (but not bootees) pedals. It has a certain vibe.

Clean the damn wires up too. Electrical tape is your friend. And DON'T put a damn foot in the pic!!!! Steve is instigating...

I could see the pickup booster to be in front only if it’s to compensate between different guitars. You boost only when you are on single coils, for example. That way you can keep the rest of the pedal settings the same when you swap guitars.

Or, he could be using it for tone juice on the three dirt boxes, to get 6 tones from it. I can imagine other reasons. Of course - since it is IN FRONT OF THE FREAKING COMPRESSOR...who knows what foolishness he has going on. Good point.

Technically, not a "board" per se...
